About Jacob

Bio

I am a medical student at the Anne Burnett Marion School of Medicine at TCU with a strong academic background in biology and chemistry. I graduated summa cum laude from Texas Christian University with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Chemistry, including Departmental Honors in Chemistry and Biochemistry. My undergraduate and medical education have given me extensive experience with biology, chemistry, biochemistry, anatomy, physiology, and other health sciences.

My approach to tutoring is centered on understanding the “why” behind a concept rather than relying on memorization alone. I work to identify where a student’s understanding breaks down, then rebuild the concept using clear explanations, diagrams, analogies, and practice questions. I adapt my teaching style to the student and focus on helping them develop the confidence to solve unfamiliar problems independently.

I especially enjoy tutoring biology, chemistry, biochemistry, anatomy and physiology, and other pre-health subjects. I can also help with exam preparation and study strategies. My goal is to create a comfortable environment where students feel free to ask questions, make mistakes, and develop a stronger understanding of the material.

Approved Subjects

Anatomy

Anatomy

I have extensive anatomy experience through my medical school training at the Anne Burnett Marion School of Medicine at TCU, including cadaver-based gross anatomy, neuroanatomy, and clinically oriented anatomy. I have continued to apply this knowledge throughout my clinical rotations, particularly in surgery, where understanding anatomy is essential for interpreting imaging, planning procedures, and recognizing important structures. I am comfortable teaching anatomy from both a foundational and clinical perspective, including musculoskeletal, abdominal, thoracic, pelvic, and neuroanatomy. I focus on helping students understand spatial relationships and functional connections rather than relying on memorization alone.
Biochemistry

Biochemistry

I have a strong background in biochemistry through both my undergraduate and medical education, including coursework in metabolism, molecular biology, enzymology, and cellular signaling. I graduated summa cum laude from TCU with a B.S. in Biology, a minor in Chemistry, and Departmental Honors in Chemistry and Biochemistry, and I have continued to apply these concepts throughout medical school. I am comfortable teaching topics such as glycolysis, the citric acid cycle, oxidative phosphorylation, amino acid metabolism, enzyme kinetics, and DNA/RNA biology. I focus on helping students understand how pathways connect and why reactions occur, rather than simply memorizing isolated steps.
Biology

Biology

I have a strong background in biology through both my undergraduate and medical education. I graduated summa cum laude from TCU with a B.S. in Biology and have continued to build on that foundation through medical school coursework in cell biology, genetics, physiology, microbiology, and molecular biology. I am comfortable teaching topics ranging from basic cellular processes and genetics to more advanced concepts in human biology and physiology. I focus on helping students understand the underlying logic of biological systems so they can apply concepts confidently rather than relying on memorization alone.
Physiology

Physiology

I have extensive physiology experience through my undergraduate and medical education, with training in cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, gastrointestinal, endocrine, and neurophysiology. In medical school, I have continued to apply these concepts in both coursework and clinical rotations, where understanding normal physiology is essential for recognizing disease processes and treatment effects. I am comfortable teaching both foundational principles and more advanced topics such as pressure-volume relationships, acid-base balance, fluid and electrolyte regulation, and hormonal feedback systems. I focus on helping students understand the mechanisms behind physiologic changes so they can reason through problems rather than memorize isolated facts.
