I am an expert math tutor with a background in advanced mathematics and computer programming. I have an Associate's Degree from Cisco College in Interdisciplinary Studies. I have taken courses in Differential and Integral Calculus, Linear Algebra, Discrete Mathematics, and programming through Data Structures.

My passion for teaching math is clear from my job history. I have tutored at Mathnasium for the last two years. In my role as a tutor, I have tutored hundreds of students in subjects ranging from Pre-K through Precalculus. My experience spans from foundational counting and number sense to advanced high school trigonometry, including specialized prep for the SAT and ASVAB. I have taught students both individually and in group settings depending on their individualized learning needs. My teaching approach utilizes Socratic questioning so that each student receives help when they need it but learns by stretching their conceptual understanding. Students learn best when they are given both agency and external help to reach their learning goals.

Through relationship building and deeper conceptual understanding, my students have seen rapid progress on math test scores and grades. Students have come in with a wide variety of diverse learning needs, and they have come out of my tutoring with stronger interpersonal skills and a belief that they are "math people." I would love to help your student reach appropriate academic growth goals. Please feel free to contact me with any further questions or inquiries!

Approved Subjects

ACT English

ACT English

Scoring a perfect 36 on the ACT English section is less about memorizing a dictionary and more about mastering the specific subset of logical rules that repeat on every test. As an MIS major, I treat grammar like a programming language, helping students move past "guessing by ear" to recognize the underlying syntax patterns test-makers use to trick them. By breaking down the exam into a series of predictable puzzles, I teach students how to identify the core grammar and rhetoric rules that account for nearly 90% of the questions. This systematic game plan removes the guesswork and provides a clear, logical path for students to dramatically improve their scores.
ACT Math

ACT Math

Scoring high on the ACT Math section is as much about time management and "test logic" as it is about knowing the actual formulas. Drawing on my professional experience instructing over 100 students and my own 97th-percentile SAT Math performance, I teach a systematic approach to navigating the math portion of the SAT. As an MIS major, I help students move past slow, traditional methods and instead use high-efficiency strategies to tackle everything from basic algebra to trigonometry. My goal is to provide a clear, repeatable game plan that removes the pressure of the clock and allows students to maximize their score.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

Algebra 1 is the most important foundation in a student's math career as it introduces the core language of variables and functions used in every future course. Drawing on my professional experience instructing over 100 students across various levels, I specialize in turning these new, abstract concepts into a series of straightforward, logical steps. As an MIS major, I focus on helping students understand the "why" behind the math so they can solve problems efficiently without relying on rote memorization. My goal is to use the experience I've gained from hundreds of sessions to replace frustration with confidence and ensure a successful transition into high school mathematics.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 is often where math shifts from simple calculations to complex abstract concepts like logarithms and functions. Drawing on my professional experience instructing over 100 students across various levels of mathematics, I have developed a clear method for making these difficult topics easy to grasp. As an MIS major with a background in advanced university math, I focus on giving students a reliable toolkit for solving problems efficiently rather than just memorizing formulas. My goal is to apply the insights I’ve gained from hundreds of tutoring sessions to build students' confidence and ensure they are fully prepared for Precalculus and the SAT/ACT.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

I’ve worked professionally with over 100 students to build the 'Number Sense' that is often missed in a fast-paced classroom. My experience taught me that elementary math is more about a student gaining a conceptual understanding than just getting the 'right' answer immediately. Even as I tackle advanced university mathematics in my MIS degree, I still find that the most important skills are the ones built in these early years. I use a scaffolding approach to break down concepts like place value and fractions into manageable steps, making math intuitive and building the solid foundation my students need to succeed in middle school and beyond.
Geometry

Geometry

High school geometry represents a major shift from calculation to logical proofs and spatial reasoning. Leveraging my two years of professional experience with over 100 students, I help learners master the "if-then" logic required to navigate theorems and coordinate geometry successfully. As an MIS major, I view geometric proofs as the foundation of logical systems, and I teach students how to visualize complex shapes by breaking them down into simpler, manageable components. My approach ensures students develop a systematic way of thinking that turns intimidating proofs into predictable, solvable puzzles.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

Pre-algebra is the critical bridge where math shifts from basic arithmetic to the logical problem-solving required for high school and beyond. Drawing on my two years of professional experience instructing over 100 students, I specialize in breaking down abstract concepts like variables, integers, and equations into intuitive, step-by-step logic. As an MIS major with a background in advanced university mathematics, I use a scaffolding approach to ensure students don't just memorize steps but actually understand the "why" behind the math. My goal is to build a rock-solid foundation and the confidence necessary for students to excel when they reach Algebra 1 and higher-level courses.
Precalculus

Precalculus

Precalculus is often the first time math starts to feel truly overwhelming for students, but I focus on showing them how it all connects back to the logic they already know. As an MIS major who has successfully completed Calculus 1, 2, and Linear Algebra, I understand exactly where these concepts are heading and which foundations are the most critical for future success. I use a scaffolding approach to break down complex topics like trigonometry, logarithms, and functions into manageable, logical steps. Having tutored over 100 students at a professional center, I know how to help students move past memorizing formulas so they can actually understand the "why" behind the math.
PSAT

PSAT

I’ve worked professionally with over 100 students to build strong foundations in math, and I apply that same "logic-first" approach to the PSAT. As an MIS major with a background in advanced university mathematics and multiple perfect scores on the ACT English, I help students understand the mechanics of the test without the stress. My goal is to use the same scaffolding techniques I used at a professional math center to help students bridge the gap between classroom learning and standardized testing. I focus on making the patterns of the PSAT intuitive, giving students a clear, systematic plan to build their confidence early on.
SAT Math

SAT Math

After tutoring over 100 students professionally, I’ve found that most math tests are less about complex formulas and more about recognizing the underlying logic of the test. As an MIS major with a background in advanced university mathematics, I help students navigate the "traps" of the exam by using a scaffolding approach to build their confidence. My experience working in a high-volume professional center means I have a deep library of strategies for every type of learner, from those struggling with the basics to high-achievers aiming for the 700+ range. I focus on making the math intuitive, and I want to ensure my students walk into test day with a systematic plan for every problem.
