Hi I’m Trinity! I received a Bachelor’s of Science in Mathematics from Stephen F. Austin University. My major was in mathematics and my minor was in secondary education. During my time in college I was a teacher assistant for college level math classes including Calculus and Precalculus. I also worked in our college’s tutoring center were I was awarded master tutor and served as the team lead for 2 years. I held many group tutoring sessions as a teacher assistant where I prepared students for upcoming precalculus and calculus tests. I also helped tutor 100’s of students in one on one sessions, catering my tutoring style to the individual students needs.
Upon graduating I was granted my secondary teaching certificate for high school mathematics and started my teaching career in an Algebra 1 position. I worked with students from all backgrounds and different levels of math. My teaching style is engaging but caring and furthermore, I wanted the students to not only pass Algebra 1 but instill in them the skills to be successful for their future classes. I believe in intentional practice and recall. I also ask students to explain things back to me often to check for conceptual understanding. My first year teaching the students achieved 100% pass rate on the Algebra 1 STAAR exam with 60% of my students at the master level, and 80% meeting grade level. In my second year of teaching, I was the runner up after a tie break for Teacher of the year.
During my second year of teaching, I was also assigned a college math aid role where I had multiple classes dedicated to aiding students in college math courses including college algebra, business mathematics, contemporary mathematics, and more.
Currently, I teach Geometry at school. However, my passion in teaching Algebra still burns fiercely, as I believe it really is integral for students to not only master, but enjoy while doing so!
