Teaching is the most rewarding aspect of my professional career and forms the core of my identity as an educator. Without a doubt, I consider the success I have enjoyed in the classroom to be my single greatest contribution to the mission of my campus. Teaching energizes me and I strive to share
my love of teaching and of my discipline with my students. If they see that I am enthused, it makes them more likely to be enthused as well. I take it as a given that I need to show them why they should care about learning. I also strongly believe that effective teaching involves a collaborative and synergistic relationship between the students and instructor. I have high expectations for both myself and my students; they push me and in turn, I push them, all in a mutually respectful manner.

I have been a teacher and tutor of English Language Arts and Reading for 11 years and have worked in elementary, middle, and high schools. I always discuss the needs of my new pupils very carefully and aim to build their confidence in the subject. I find that practice in exam techniques invariably helps to rapidly improve grades. I have 9 years experience with Special Needs children as well. I am very patient and enjoy helping others to learn. As a veteran educator with well-known techniques and strategies, I am able to help my students to maximize their potential using targeted revision and exam techniques when taking state standardized exams. One of my goals is to keep the student challenged while having fun learning. I provide weekly assessments and progress reports. I am considered to be patient and adaptable and many of my students come to me by recommendation.

I am available for tutoring Monday through Friday from 8:30-4:00 and I will travel to the students’ home or work with them online. My base rate is $50/hour.
