I have extensive experience in mathematics, statistics, and its applications to data science and economics. I currently work in the intersection of mathematics and development economics promoting math and programming competitions in developing countries and performing data analysis on such activities. I can assist with the theory and implementation of statistics in R, Python, Julia, and Stata. I wrote exercises for the course 14.31x Data Analysis for Social Scientists hosted in the MITx Platform and currently used as a requirement for the MIT MicroMasters certification. I was previously a research assistant in the Department of Economics at MIT from 2014-2017.

My master's thesis focused on geometric objects called toric varieties which combine combinatorics with algebraic geometry. These have a rich combinatorial structure and use nice techniques from discrete math to solve problems in algebraic geometry and number theory. I have a BSc in Mathematics and a minor in Economics from MIT, and a MSc in Mathematics from the University of Michigan.

Just great at teaching

I'm in a high-level math course, and Jose has been teaching me what my professor can't. I was struggling in my math class due to an incompetent professor, but Jose helped explain concepts and helped me understand the how everything works and why. Every question I have eventually gets answered in a clear way. I've had so many "ohhh so that's how it works" moments working with Jose.
