Approved Subjects

Anatomy

Anatomy

I would be a strong anatomy tutor because I have a formal academic background in Biomedical Sciences, along with hands-on clinical experience as a Registered Nurse and graduate-level training as a Family Nurse Practitioner student. My biomedical sciences degree gave me a detailed foundation in human anatomy, physiology, histology, organ systems, cellular biology, and disease processes, while my nursing education helped me apply those concepts directly to patient care. In my clinical work, especially in emergency and critical care settings, anatomy is something I use constantly when assessing patients, understanding injuries, interpreting symptoms, explaining procedures, and connecting body structures to real clinical problems. I can help students understand anatomy beyond memorization by showing how structures relate to function, movement, disease, assessment findings, and real-world healthcare situations. My goal as a tutor is to make anatomy feel organized, visual, and manageable so students can build confidence and truly understand how the human body is put together and why it matters.
Biology

Biology

I would be a strong biology tutor because I have a formal academic background in Biomedical Sciences, along with clinical experience as a Registered Nurse and graduate-level training as a Family Nurse Practitioner student. My biomedical sciences degree gave me an in-depth foundation in biology-related subjects, including cell biology, anatomy, physiology, microbiology, genetics, immunology, biochemistry, molecular biology, pathophysiology, and human disease processes. During that program, I learned how to connect biological concepts from the cellular and molecular level to full-body systems, which helps me explain biology in a way that is organized, practical, and easier to understand. My nursing and advanced practice education have further strengthened my ability to apply biology to real-world healthcare, including infection, inflammation, chronic disease, medications, lab interpretation, and patient assessment. As a tutor, I can help students move beyond memorization by understanding how biological processes work, why they matter, and how they connect to health, disease, and everyday life. My goal is to make biology feel less overwhelming and help students build confidence with clear explanations, structure, and real-world examples.
EMT/ NREMT

EMT/ NREMT

I am highly qualified to tutor EMT and NREMT students because of my extensive background in emergency medicine, critical care, trauma nursing, and advanced medical education. I currently work in a Level I Trauma Center and have experience caring for critically ill and emergency patients in both the emergency department and intensive care settings. My clinical background has provided me with strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, patient assessment, emergency interventions, cardiac monitoring, trauma response, airway management, and rapid clinical decision-making — all of which are essential concepts for EMT and NREMT students to understand. In addition to my clinical experience, I am currently completing my Master of Science in Nursing to become a Family Nurse Practitioner and have maintained a strong academic record throughout nursing school and graduate education. I also hold multiple advanced certifications including ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC, and critical care training, which have strengthened my understanding of emergency protocols and prehospital medicine. Because I actively work in fast-paced emergency and critical care environments, I am able to teach students not only the textbook material, but also how these concepts apply in real-life patient situations. I am especially passionate about helping students build confidence in difficult subjects by simplifying complex concepts into practical, understandable explanations. Whether a student needs help preparing for the NREMT exam, understanding EMT coursework, improving test-taking strategies, or strengthening foundational emergency medicine knowledge, I provide a supportive and encouraging learning environment tailored to each student’s individual needs and learning style.
Epidemiology

Epidemiology

I am a Registered Nurse, published author, and Family Nurse Practitioner student with a strong academic and clinical background in public health, research, and evidence-based practice. My education in biomedical sciences and nursing has given me a solid foundation in epidemiologic concepts such as disease transmission, risk factors, incidence, prevalence, screening, prevention, population health, and interpretation of research findings. As a critical care and emergency nurse, I regularly apply epidemiology in real clinical settings by recognizing patterns of illness, understanding infection control principles, evaluating patient risk, and using clinical guidelines to support safe care. I can help students break down epidemiology into clear, understandable concepts, especially when connecting textbook material to real-world healthcare examples.
ESL/ESOL

ESL/ESOL

As someone who comes from a multilingual background and grew up around family members who still primarily speak our native language, I understand both the challenges and importance of learning English in academic, professional, and everyday settings. This personal experience has given me patience, cultural understanding, and strong communication skills that help me connect with students learning English as a second language. In addition to my personal background, I have extensive academic and professional experience communicating in high-level educational and healthcare environments. I am a Registered Nurse currently completing my Master of Science in Nursing to become a Family Nurse Practitioner, and I have experience teaching, mentoring, and educating nursing students, new graduate nurses, patients, and families from many different cultural and language backgrounds. My healthcare experience has strengthened my ability to explain difficult concepts clearly, adapt to different learning styles, and create supportive learning environments where students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence. Because of both my personal and professional experiences, I am especially well qualified to help ESL students improve conversational English, pronunciation, reading comprehension, grammar, writing, academic communication, and overall confidence using English in real-world situations.
HESI (Nursing exam)

HESI (Nursing exam)

As a Registered Nurse currently completing my Master of Science in Nursing to become a Family Nurse Practitioner, I have a strong academic and clinical foundation that makes me highly qualified to help students prepare for the HESI examination. My background includes critical care, trauma, emergency nursing, pharmacology, anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, dosage calculations, patient assessment, and test-taking strategy — all subjects commonly covered on HESI exams. In addition to my clinical experience, I have extensive experience simplifying difficult concepts and helping students understand material in ways that are practical, organized, and less overwhelming. I understand that many students preparing for the HESI struggle not only with the content itself, but also with anxiety, confidence, and learning how to approach nursing-style questions. Because of this, I focus not only on reviewing information, but also on strengthening critical thinking skills, clinical reasoning, and testing strategies that help students perform better under pressure. Having successfully progressed through rigorous nursing programs myself while maintaining strong academic performance, I understand firsthand what nursing students are expected to know and how challenging these exams can feel. I also personally had to complete similar standardized nursing examinations during my own nursing education, including ATI testing, so I understand the pressure students experience while preparing for high-stakes exams and where many students commonly struggle. Because I have gone through these experiences myself, I am able to relate to students in a realistic and supportive way while helping them build confidence, strengthen weak areas, and develop effective strategies for success. My goal is to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, improving weak areas, and building the confidence needed to succeed on the HESI and throughout nursing school.
Microbiology

Microbiology

I am a Registered Nurse currently pursuing my Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner student, with a strong academic background in biomedical sciences. My education and clinical experience have provided me with extensive knowledge in microbiology, infectious diseases, human physiology, pharmacology, and cellular processes. I regularly apply microbiology concepts in real-world healthcare settings, including infection prevention, pathogen transmission, antimicrobial therapy, and patient care. I enjoy helping students understand difficult scientific concepts by breaking them down into simpler, more practical explanations rather than relying on memorization alone. My experience in both healthcare and advanced nursing education allows me to connect microbiology topics to real clinical examples, making learning more engaging and easier to retain. I am patient, supportive, and committed to helping students build confidence while improving their understanding and academic performance.
NCLEX
