Miguel M.

My name is Miguel, and I bring a strong academic foundation to my tutoring work. I earned my Bachelor of Arts from Columbia University and my Master of Education (Ed.M.) from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

My teaching experience spans several contexts over the past few years. I served as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant at a university in Colombia, where I designed and delivered English lessons to undergraduate students. In that role I worked with learners from intermediate through advanced levels, leading both full classroom sessions and one-on-one tutorials. More recently, I have taught English online to adult learners from around the world, helping them build fluency for professional communication, academic work, and everyday conversation. I have also supported community-based tutoring through a nonprofit I work with, offering lessons to youth learners who would not otherwise have access to language instruction.

My approach is practical, learner-centered, and tailored to each student's goals. Rather than drilling grammar rules in isolation, I build lessons around the specific situations each student needs English for, whether that is a job interview, a professional email, academic writing, or simply sounding more natural in everyday conversation. I am comfortable working with adult learners at any level, and as a native Spanish speaker I can offer clarification in Spanish when a student finds it helpful. Students who work with me can expect structured, personalized online lessons with clear goals for every session and honest, specific feedback on their progress.
