I am currently a mathematics major at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. I also serve as a Peer-Led Team Learning (PLTL) Leader, where I work directly alongside professors to support student success in college-level math courses. Through this role, I have led guided learning sessions and helped students strengthen their understanding of key concepts in subjects such as College Algebra, Math for Business, and Pre-Calculus. Over multiple semesters, I have gained experience working with students at different skill levels, including those who may feel overwhelmed or unsure about their math abilities. Seeing students grow in confidence and even pursue leadership roles themselves has been one of the most rewarding parts of my experience.

My approach to tutoring focuses on clarity, patience, and building a strong foundation. I believe that understanding why a concept works is just as important as knowing how to solve a problem. During sessions, I break down complex topics into manageable steps and encourage students to actively engage with the material, rather than simply memorizing procedures. I also adapt my teaching style to fit each student’s needs—whether that means reviewing fundamentals, working through practice problems together, or preparing for upcoming exams.

In addition to my background in mathematics, I have a minor in art, which has helped me develop strong visual and creative ways of explaining concepts. My goal is to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, building confidence, and ultimately becoming more independent in their problem-solving skills.

Approved Subjects

ACT Math

ACT Math

I have a strong foundation in the topics covered on the ACT Math section, including algebra, functions, and precalculus concepts, through my coursework as a mathematics major and my experience as a PLTL Leader. In this role, I work directly with students to break down problems step by step and help them build confidence in their problem-solving abilities. I also focus on helping students recognize patterns, avoid common mistakes, and approach problems more efficiently, which is especially important for timed exams like the ACT. My goal is to help students improve both their accuracy and speed while developing a solid understanding of the material.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have experience supporting students in algebra through my role as a PLTL Leader, where I help students build strong foundations in solving equations, working with functions, and understanding core algebraic concepts. I focus on breaking problems down into clear, manageable steps so students can develop confidence and consistency. I also help students identify and correct common mistakes while reinforcing fundamental skills. My goal is to ensure students not only understand the material but can apply it independently.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I have a strong background in algebraic concepts through my coursework as a mathematics major and my experience as a PLTL Leader. I regularly guide students through topics such as functions, systems of equations, and more advanced algebraic problem-solving. I focus on helping students understand the reasoning behind each step so they can approach more complex problems with confidence. I also emphasize pattern recognition and efficient problem-solving strategies to help students succeed in higher-level math.
Calculus

Calculus

I have a solid foundation in calculus concepts, including limits and derivatives, through my coursework as a mathematics major. I focus on helping students understand the underlying ideas behind calculus rather than just memorizing procedures. My teaching approach emphasizes step-by-step problem solving and connecting concepts to real-world meaning when possible. I aim to help students build confidence in tackling calculus problems while strengthening their overall mathematical thinking.
Drawing

Drawing

I have developed my drawing skills over many years, beginning in elementary school and continuing through both high school and college. During high school, I was actively involved in art clubs and successfully completed AP Art, where I built a strong foundation in observational drawing, composition, and creative expression. In college, I have continued to strengthen my skills through formal coursework, including Drawing I, Drawing II, and currently Intermediate Drawing, with Advanced Drawing planned for next semester. These courses have helped me refine techniques such as shading, perspective, proportion, and value, while also improving my ability to analyze and construct drawings with greater accuracy. In addition to my academic experience, I enjoy helping others improve their drawing skills by breaking down techniques into clear, manageable steps. I focus on building a strong foundation while encouraging creativity and confidence, adapting my approach based on each student’s level and goals.
