With over a decade of classroom experience, I specialize in helping students master the analytical and rhetorical skills demanded by AP English Language and AP English Literature. I hold a BFA in Filmmaking and am currently completing my master’s in literature at the University of Houston–Clear Lake. Prior to UHCL, I spent ten years teaching both 10th-grade Pre-AP English and 12th-grade AP English Literature, guiding hundreds of students through state-aligned, CollegeBoard-approved curricula. Using the current national average cost of a freshman core course, since 2019 I've helped my students' families save a collective 75k.

My tutoring approach is highly individualized. I believe every student brings their own voice, rhythm, and range to each analysis, exercised through multiple and intentional annotations of densely varied texts. Developing writing styles unique to each while honoring the expectations of the AP exam results in an ability to critically assess and synthesize complex ideas beyond exams. So whether the focus is de- and reconstructing academic nonfictive rhetoric or decoding the connotative language comprising fictive literature, I provide a low-pressure and high-engagement environment. More specifically, I aim to provide an environment where mistakes and misunderstandings are expected, though never dreaded. As it positions literary analysis alongside all the great disciplines requiring consistent practice, practicing this mindset is critical.

I’ve worked with learners at all skill levels—from reluctant readers to gifted writers. Money saved on freshman courses is always a bonus, but I hold myself to higher expectations than early college credit: my goal is for every student to walk away knowing, regardless of content and complexity, no piece of literature is ever beyond their comprehension or their contribution.
