I've been a tutor for 12 years both in-person and online, as well as both individually and through school programs. I've always tutored Math, English, and Writing for levels K-12. For the past 4 years, I've expanded my skills into PSAT/SAT Prep, ACT Prep, and High School/ College Chemistry. I've worked with students of all ages, but mostly with elementary and high school students. I have experience working with neurodivergent kids both in-person and online. I use my patience to help students succeed and do my best to make learning more fun to help them focus. A large goal of mine is to both teach students the material and to help them love learning as well.

I graduated Summa Cum Laude from UNT with a Bachelor's in "Ecology for Environmental Science" and a minor in Chemistry; I am currently pursuing a Master's Degree in STEM Teaching. I am often a leader in the classroom that is known for helping my peers when they don't understand the explanations that the professor provides. I host in-person and online group study sessions where I help multiple of my peers at a time. I received a score of 1450 on my SAT and 33 on my ACT, but have performed better on practice tests I've taken since then. Because of all my experience and previous accomplishments, I am confident in my abilities to proofread essays and teach any STEM, SAT, or ACT subject.

I stand apart from other tutors because I have multiple approaches I take to tutoring. Each student has different goals and learning styles, so I begin each session by asking the student if they have any specific topics they struggle with, which helps them feel more in control of their learning and helps me know where to begin. I'm talented at being able to word the same explanation multiple ways and have both visual and verbal explanations that I can use depending on what works best for each student. I'm patient and let each student practice and ask for help as much as they need until they understand and feel confident enough to continue.

After three weeks of tutoring 2-3 hours a week, my neighbor, a future college freshman, was able to double the number of TSI questions she got correct with my help. Because I recently finished my first year in college, the information from the entrance exams is still fresh in my mind, so I'm able to use my 12 years of tutoring experience to teach the information to others. I'm skilled when it comes to standardized exams, having received A's on my STAAR, A's on my finals, 1450 on the SAT, 33 on the ACT, and college credit for 17 different AP Exams. I'm confident in my abilities to teach both standardized test material and helpful testing strategies.
ACT English

ACT English

I have been tutoring ACT English for 4+ years, having improved each client's score by at least 3 points after only a few sessions. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor's of Science degree and am pursuing a Master's of Education. I scored 35/36 on my own ACT when I was in high school.
Biology

I am graduated Summa Cum Laude with my Bachelor's of Science in Ecology and a minor in Chemistry. I am currently a Master of Education in Secondary Teaching student pursuing a certification to teach life science to grades 7-12. I have tutored biology for 7+ years, both in-person and remotely.
Cooking

Cooking

I've been cooking for myself since I was in the second grade and could see over the top of the stove. Now, as a college student with Celiac Disease, I've learned to cook delicious meals (using the minimal budget I have) that also meet my dietary needs. I want to use my experience as a tutor to help others gain this skill as well.
Creative Writing

Creative Writing

I competed in University Interscholastic League writing tournaments for many years and coached members of my team to earn writing awards at the district level. I have experience helping learners of all ages express themselves creatively through prose, poetry, and other forms of creative writing, both paid and as a volunteer. Most notably, I was the captain of the Prose and Poetry competition team in high school.
Drawing

Drawing

I have had two of my colored pencil drawings nationally published and one chalk drawing displayed in Fair Park. More recently, I received an honorable mention in the Texas State Fair for a portrait I drew in colored pencil of my pet chickens. I received college credit for AP Drawing and have experience tutoring others in the subject, as well as drawing for commissions.
Earth Science

Earth Science

I have taken Earth-science specific courses since I was in middle school and will graduate May 2025 Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Ecology for Environmental Science with a chemistry minor. In summer 2025, I begin my master's degree with a certification to teach Life Science to grades 7-12, so I am confident that I can teach Earth Science to students of all ages. I enjoy volunteering to teach younger students about rock formations, prairies, and all Earth has to offer.
Ecology

Ecology

I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BS in Ecology, and I am currently pursuing a Master of Education in STEM Teaching. I've always been passionate about organisms and the environment, and I look for every opportunity I can to share my knowledge with others. I have both research and leadership experience in the subject. Ultimately, I plan to earn a PhD in Environmental Science and spend my life teaching others and conducting research.
Elementary (K-6th)

Elementary (K-6th)

I started gaining tutoring experience when I was still in elementary school; I was a peer tutor to students my teachers couldn't seem to have a breakthrough with. I was talented enough at teaching young students that I continued to do so throughout middle and high school. Now as a college student with 10+ years of experience working with all types of K-6 students using various tutoring techniques, I am confident in my ability to work with them in a successful manner.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

When I was in elementary school, I was a peer tutor since I was in the Talented & Gifted Program. My teachers found my explanations to be effective, so they also often called me to the board during class to answer students' questions and would ask me to come in to help with Saturday school. I continued to tutor elementary students on the weekends throughout middle school and high school as well. I am now a college STEM major and would like to continue to tutor elementary school students since I have many years of experience doing so.
Elementary Science

Elementary Science

As a student majoring in "Ecology for Environmental Science" with a 4.0 GPA, it's safe to say that I love science and have a good understanding of it. I've been a tutor for elementary school students ever since I was in elementary school myself, so I'm confident in my abilities to work with young students. All students I've tutored have walked away with not only a better understanding of science and higher test scores but with a more passionate view of science as well. I love helping students become interested in what they're learning in class, which helps them pay attention, retain more information, and receive higher scores.
English

English

As an award-winning writer, I'm well-known on campus for being someone people can rely on if they need help with English, reading, or writing. I've been a tutor for over 10 years and have experience with students in K-12, as well as students who are neurodivergent. I often check essays for my peers and their younger siblings. I'm patient and work with students to build a lesson plan tailored to their specific needs and learning styles.

I will soon graduate with a Bachelor of Science and be extremely experienced with explaining complex thoughts both creatively and accurately in written form.
GED

GED

I graduated Summa Cum Laude from my high school after maintaining a weighted GPA of 4.6 and an unweighted GPA of 3.9. As a senior, I tutored my peers to help make sure that everyone in my grade level was able to graduate. As a college student, I still tutor high school students to help them get the credits they need to graduate. I'm very knowledgeable in the subjects students need to get their high school diplomas, so I'm confident in my abilities to be a tutor for those wishing to earn their GED.
Grammar

Grammar

As a Master's student, I write papers daily that require flawless grammar through intense editing. I have 10+ years of experience editing the papers of others to ensure proper use of English grammar. Beyond providing simple feedback, I teach students how to avoid making similar mistakes on future assignments.
Handwriting

Handwriting

I have worked with young students to help them improve their handwriting for over 7 years, primarily as a volunteer tutor. I take the time to explain how to properly hold different writing utensils to avoid harming hands or smudging the ink. Then, we take our time and think about how to form letters until it becomes second nature.
Logic

Logic

As a STEM major, I've always had special interests in science, advanced mathematics, and computer science, all of which require an understanding of logic. I went to a magnet high school that required us to pass a logic exam to be accepted, which I aced and was able to tutor future students for to help them be accepted as well. Now that I'm in college, I still find myself using logic everywhere I turn. Logic is something I'm passionate about, and I love finding various ways to explain the same logic to students looking to improve their logic skills.
Microsoft PowerPoint

Microsoft PowerPoint

In elementary school, I was self-taught in PowerPoint since I had to make at least one presentation each year, which helped me learn the layout of the program very well. In middle school, I took two classes regarding the use of Microsoft programs, including PowerPoint. I have also taken two college-level courses about the proper way to make PowerPoints depending on the subject you are planning to present. Now, I help others with their PowerPoints and often use PowerPoint when I teach lessons in a variety of subjects to students I tutor.
Proofreading

Proofreading

I was the captain of a first-place team in a Journalism Copy Editing competition, which was essentially a competition about proofreading. I've also tutored students of all ages in English and grammar and am the go-to person for people who want someone reliable to proofread essays for them. As an award-winning expository essay writer, journalism writer, and copy editor, I'm confident in my proofreading abilities. With my 10+ years of tutoring experience with students from kindergarten to college level, I'm confident in my abilities to teach the subject successfully.
Reading

Reading

I've always been passionate about reading, which helped me decide to become a tutor for Reading and English about 10 years ago. I scored a 34 on ACT Reading and a 730 on SAT Reading, but have received higher scores on practice exams I've taken since to keep myself fresh on the material. I help elementary school students improve their reading skills on the weekends and was able to help my incoming college freshman neighbor improve her Reading scores on her TSI exam this summer, so I'm confident in my abilities to tutor this subject to students of all ages.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I scored a 730 on the math section of my SAT and a 34 on the math section of my ACT, but have had higher scores when I took practice exams since. I have been a tutor for over 10 years, and I've been doing SAT prep tutoring specifically for 3 years. As a current college student majoring in STEM with a 4.0 GPA, I'm confident in my ability to tutor all SAT topics, especially mathematics.
SAT Writing

SAT Writing

While I've only been an SAT tutor for 3 years, I've been an English and Writing tutor for about 12 years. As a Master of Education student who loves to write, the information from the SAT Writing Section is still very fresh in my mind, so I'm confident that I can use my experience to tutor anyone who wants to improve their SAT score. I had many of my peers come to me for help before we took our exams, and they found enough success with my methods that they referred me as an SAT tutor to younger students they knew, who also have found success so far. I teach not only test material but general strategies that can be applied to any standardized test as well as methods for how someone can self-study when a tutor is not available.
Study Skills

Study Skills

I've been taking honors classes since I was in middle school, which means I've had to be very good at studying to keep up with the pace of the classes I take. I graduated high school with credit for 17 AP Exams, have gotten A's on all my finals, scored 1450 on the SAT, scored 33 on the ACT, and currently have a 4.0 graduate-level GPA. Succeeding on exams requires me to find what study strategies work best for my specific needs and learning style, which means I've learned about and tried many different methods over the years. This has helped me be confident in my ability to advise others on how to improve their own studying and organizational habits.
Writing

Writing

As the former captain of a first-place Journalism and Expository Writing competition team, I'm a go-to person for people who know me and want help with writing an essay. I've helped students in kindergarten through college improve their writing skills by adapting my teaching methods for each student according to their current skills and the way they learn best. I have experience in helping dyslexic and neurodivergent students improve their writing skills as well.
Zoology

Zoology

I've been passionate about Ecology and Zoology for as long as I can remember, and I love to share my knowledge with others. I have hands-on experience in caring for poultry and exotic fish, as well as experience with tagging and releasing Monarch butterflies. I am currently assisting on a project involving land mammals by helping with data entry. I currently tutor others in environmental science and plan to earn a Ph.D. so I may become a professor in the subject.
