I am a certified Math teacher with 12 years of classroom experience and an additional 3 years of online tutoring. I have taught all levels of math from Algebra 1 through Calculus, including AP Calculus BC and IB Math HL. Both of my degrees, BA and MA, are in Mathematics, with a minor in Secondary Mathematics Education.

I am a very patient, knowledgeable and talented personal tutor. I offer tutoring in Algebra, Geometry, PreCalculus and Calculus. My approach is to begin by breaking down complex problems into manageable chunks. I provide repetition of key skills before offering challenging extensions. I strive to share my passion for math, tailor my support and make learning enjoyable. My ultimate goal is for students to perform successfully on their own.

My extensive background enables me to provide multiple approaches to teaching and learning. I find it helpful to emphasize classroom learning by practicing familiar methods. When appropriate, I offer alternative solution methods as well. After foundational skills are solidified, I emphasize academic vocabulary, rigorous details and extend understanding. By using standards-based lesson materials, I aim to match the difficulty and style of your course.

I would love to assist you with completing homework, provide you with extra course support and help you prepare effectively for tests. I’m here to help you stay ahead of the rest! Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have or to schedule a lesson.

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

In Algebra 1, core concepts of functions are introduced. It has been shown that becoming proficient with Algebra 1 skills improves a student's overall academic performance. I empower my students by making sure the math makes sense. I strive to help my students build confidence in their abilities and move from anxiety into curiosity.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 covers a catalog of parent functions and skills for manipulating them. We discover patterns and represent them mathematically for analysis. My approach emphasizes multiple representations to explore these relationships, comparing and contrasting the patterns in graphs, tables, equations and word problems. I have developed a wholistic approach to Algebra 2 which allows students to "connects the dots" and ensure a strong foundation.
Calculus

Calculus

Many strong, talented students struggle in their Calculus class because the concepts are highly reliant on prior knowledge and skills. Calculus teachers are unable to address this issue in the classroom because every student's needs are so different. I work with students to recall and solidify their foundational knowledge and skills as they learn new concepts. I have experience teaching all of the pre-requisite courses so I can readily re-teach whatever issues you may encounter. I've also taught AP Calculus BC and IB Math HL, so I am careful to include all the rigorous details needed to earn a top score on high-stakes exams.
Geometry

Geometry

Mental skills such as Logic, Critical Thinking, Spatial Reasoning are all developed in Geometry. I use visual demonstrations and technology tools to present unfamiliar concepts. With my strong academic background, I address any weaknesses in prior knowledge. My approach is to build reasoning and thinking skills with future applications in mind. I ensure students have rigorous understanding, preparing them for success in future mathematics.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

Having taught Pre-Algebra to Calculus I've seen that knowledge of the basics of math matters, a lot. Too often, elementary students learn methods of "finding answers" that aren't useful to them later in their education. That's why Pre-Algebra is so important. Learning quantitative reasoning and developing solid arithmetic skills are vital to understanding Algebraic tools. I am careful to help my students restore their natural math instinct and increase number sense. My students learn to think critically about math.
Precalculus

Precalculus

PreCalculus curriculum varies widely. As new subjects are introduced, students often become overwhelmed. So many subjects are introduced: Advanced Algebra, Trigonometry, Analytic Geometry, Linear Algebra, Vectors, Complex Numbers, Discrete Math, Probability, Limits and more can all be encountered in a high school PreCalculus course. I have a wealth of knowledge and expertise to help you with any topic you may encounter!
Probability

Probability

The study of Probability is a rather recent advancement in mathematics. It was once known as an unintuitive and illogical science, until laws of counting and large numbers were well established. In this century, probability has given us the tools for math underlying Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. Probability courses cover advanced counting methods and experimental design. New applications of these skills continue to be discovered.
PSAT

PSAT

I have completed professional development with CollegeBoard for Calculus BC and SAT. I taught after-school SAT prep classes at my school for several years. My students boost their scores with my patient approach, personal guidance and expert instruction.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I'm a patient and supportive teacher with experience teaching SAT Math. We will work together to create a realistic study plan to help keep you on-track and make the most of your study time. Then I design a custom curriculum to focus on the topics you need most. After each lesson, you will receive problem sets and skills practice to solidify your understanding. I can also help you with the Reading & Writing portions of the SAT if you would like that support as well.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

I've taught every level of high school math, including advanced PreCalculus as well as IB Math HL. Both of which covered Trigonometry. A thorough understanding Trigonometry is vital to success in Calculus. With a deep conceptual grasp of Trigonometry, you will find meaning behind the abstract formulas and equations of Calculus and Physics.

Leasha is the Tutor Everyone Needs

Leasha has been my math tutor all throughout high school, and she has truly been a total game changer. She’s incredibly knowledgeable, but also so kind and patient, always making sure I fully understand each problem before moving on. Whether it’s preparing for tests, getting ahead, studying, or just needing reassurance, she’s been there for me every step of the way. Now as a senior in high school, I can honestly say I wouldn’t be where I am in math without her. She’s the best tutor I could imagine, and if you need any help at all with math, Leasha is the one to go to.

Excellent experience!

My daughter had her first AP calculus BC tutorial session with Leasha, and she helped her review concepts before an exam. She said that Leasha thoroughly explained things in a way that was easy to understand, and she felt more confident going into her exam.

Excellent help.

My daughter really appreciates the help she has been getting from Leasha. Her understanding of the principles is a lot better. She has filled in the gap that the school teacher has failed to do for us.
