When I came back to United States, I continued to work with students from various backgrounds teaching Reading and ESL. Seeing a student light up in learning another language and actually understanding what they are saying or reading, is very exciting for me.
Learning another language is difficult, but I make it interesting by providing activities that are engaging. The activities allow the students to put into practice what they are learning at that time. Sometimes the activities are hands-on , while others may be base with current online programs. Every student is treated with respect as well as respect to their culture. I can relate with students that learn another language because my parents and other family members were not born in America. I am a first-born American citizen. I am always open to learning from my students as my students learn from me.
