I have many interests, endeavors, and experiences including several years of tutoring and teaching experience for grades 7 through 12 and for college students, too. My background includes mathematics research, geophysical research, data analysis, writing, music production, film production, and more.

I like to use hands-on, practical, understandable, and real world examples to illustrate concepts and I enjoy enabling a student to learn by gaining a thorough understanding of key principles in a particular subject or topic as well simplifying concepts for a succinct overview. I believe teachers can learn as much as students, and I enjoy that, too. And I strive to be as prepared and effective as possible.

I began tutoring fellow students as a senior in high school for my school's peer tutoring program, tutoring fellow students in calculus, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, physics, chemistry, social studies, and other subjects. Soon thereafter, I was named Mathematics Sterling Scholar. During college, I worked for a professional tutoring service, tutoring students in grades 7 through 12 in English, social studies, algebra, life science, physical science, and other subjects. Later, I became a long-term substitute teacher, teaching regular classes to grades 7 and 8 in English, health, and physical science. I have also tutored adults and younger children in my spare time.

In college, I studied seismology and worked as a research assistant, and I was a co-author on several published seismology papers, including a major contribution to a paper on seismic site amplification. Later, I worked in mathematical research, in number theory, and did research and graphic design for an educational mathematics book.

As a young adult, I became interested in film, music, and art, and I have since worked on projects with several beloved, renowned, and award-winning actors, performers, filmmakers, and musicians.

I look forward to helping you learn something interesting, important, and helpful!
