Do you have a paper due today? College personal statement, activities list, grad school, law school, or med school app due soon? Need your resume or cover letter revamped or help preparing for an interview? I'm your guy!

My name is Shane, and I graduated cum laude from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst with certification in writing center tutoring. I've helped students gain acceptance to Cornell, UC Berkeley, Georgetown, UT Austin, the University of Virginia, and Northeastern among many others. Since then I have tutored thousands of students online and in-person, helping dozens secure job interviews and jobs.

A bit more about me: my area of focus in college was professional and technical writing. Today, I work in HR and recruitment and am deeply knowledgeable about the interviewing and hiring process. I also produce, script, and host a weekly podcast. My original jokes have been featured over 50 times between 2022-2025 on the Howie Carr Radio Show, with an audience of over ~2 million weekly listeners. I've had two letters to the editor published in the Boston Globe and boston.com.

supportive expert

Shane is an absolutely amazing tutor. I recently worked with him several times to craft two cover letters and two in-depth job applications, as well as to prepare for job interviews. Shane was so helpful in this process; he assisted me from the fundamentals/big-picture to the finest details, from determining the structure and thematic flow of my cover letters to crafting impactful sentences in order to convey my skills and experience. Through Shane’s meticulous editing and guidance on my cover letter and application, as well as his invaluable advice in preparing with him for my job interviews, I was able to secure a job offer at my dream non-profit organization. My lessons with Shane have quite literally set me on the path for success in my career, and I am so grateful to him for his support. I strongly recommend Shane to anyone who feels stuck or needs support in the daunting job application/interview process. Trust me, he will help you work through any question or concern you may have. Do not hesitate to book a lesson with him 😊.

Exceptional Guidance on My Statement of Purpose

Mr. Shane was absolutely amazing to work with. He went through my entire Statement of Purpose line by line, giving thoughtful feedback on clarity, flow, and reflection. He helped me build a strong narrative that connects my experiences, motivations, and goals in a natural way. One of the most helpful things he taught me was how to use reflection sentences such as “This experience taught me that,” “Through this project, I learned how to,” or “Looking back, I recognize that” to show personal growth and insight rather than just listing achievements. His approach was thorough, respectful, and very personable, and he made the whole process feel collaborative and meaningful. I truly appreciate how much time and care he put into helping me refine my SOP, and I look forward to continuing to work with him on my research statement essay.

Great to work with

I had to write my first college essay this summer, which was very detailed and in a format I was not familiar with, and Shane was excellent in helping me edit it. We worked through so many problems with it, and his advice turned the paper around. I ended up with a paper that was well written and coherent. He is super friendly and easy to work with. I couldn't have done it without his recommendations. Recommend him highly!
