I am a certified Texas educator with more than 20 years of experience supporting students across elementary, middle, and high school settings. My certifications include Core Subjects, English Language Arts and Reading, Special Education, and English as a Second Language, as well as Principal certification. My professional background also includes behavioral intervention, STEAM education, restorative practices, social-emotional learning, and college-level instruction. Throughout my career, I have worked with students in general education and special education classrooms, small groups, intervention settings, and one-on-one support.
My tutoring approach begins with understanding the individual learner. I recognize that two students can struggle with the same assignment for completely different reasons, so I take time to identify a student's strengths, learning needs, confidence level, and where a skill may have broken down. I use clear modeling, guided practice, questioning, visual supports, real-world connections, and differentiated instruction to make learning more accessible. I can provide support in reading comprehension, English language arts, writing, elementary core subjects, ESL, special education, homework assistance, study skills, and academic organization.
Most importantly, I believe students learn best when they feel safe asking questions and are encouraged rather than embarrassed by what they do not yet understand. My goal is not simply to help a student complete today's assignment. I want students to understand how they learn, develop strategies they can use independently, strengthen their confidence, and experience meaningful academic success. Whether a student needs remediation, ongoing academic support, help organizing assignments, or an encouraging educator who can explain something in a different way, I meet them where they are and help them move forward.
