I hold a Master of Professional Accounting from UT Austin, an MBA from the University of Southern California, and am a licensed CPA. My academic background covers the full spectrum of advanced financial accounting, managerial accounting, corporate finance, and business strategy. This dual credentialing allows me to help students master both technical calculations and big-picture business concepts.
My teaching approach is highly structured and focuses on practical application. In my experience, financial concepts are much easier to learn when tied to real-world business scenarios. When helping a student, I break complex topics down into three steps: first, explaining the logical "why" behind the accounting rule; second, walking through the step-by-step mechanics of the problem; and third, showing how a corporate controller or CFO actually uses this information to make decisions. This method bridges the gap between abstract textbook theory and real-world execution, which is highly effective for college students and MBAs.
While I do not teach in a traditional classroom, I have ten years of experience as an educator and mentor in corporate finance. Over the last decade, I have regularly trained and mentored junior accountants and financial analysts (typically aged 22–30) on technical accounting standards and advanced Excel modeling. Additionally, my daily work as a Financial Controller involves translating complex financial metrics into clear concepts for non-financial executives, which has honed my ability to simplify difficult material for any audience. During my graduate programs, I also served as an informal peer tutor, guiding study groups through rigorous master's and MBA-level coursework.
