I am a Neuroscience major at The University of Texas at Austin with a strong foundation in biology and a desire to help students succeed. I first developed an interest in biology while taking AP Biology in high school, and since then I have continue to build on that knowledge through my college coursework. I've taken AP Biology, Introductory Biology I, Introductory Biology II, and Genetics. I did well in all.
For the past year, I have worked as a Course Assistant (CA) for BIO 311C (Introductory Biology) at The University of Texas at Austin. As a CA, I help college students taking the class understand challenging biological concepts during what we call Collaborative Study Sessions (CSS), answer questions, and lead exam review sessions. Working with students has taught me that everyone learns differently, so I focus on explaining concept in multiple ways, using real-world examples, drawing it out, or through step by step reasoning until the material makes sense. My goal is not only to help students perform well on their exams but also to build their confidence and understanding of biology.
Although I’ve only worked with college students, I am excited to work with high school students and helping them succeed in general biology, honors biology, and even AP Biology. Whether they need support with homework, preparing for quizzes and exams, or strengthening their understanding of complex topics, I will strive to create an encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, recognizing what they understand and what they need more help with, learning from their mistakes, and developing confidence in their abilities.
