Hello! I’m Lauren, a Reading and Math Intervention Tutor with more than 15 years of experience helping students who learn differently build stronger skills, confidence, and independence.

I hold a Master’s in Education and have a background in special education, reading intervention, structured literacy, and social-emotional learning. I specialize in reading intervention, dyslexia support, elementary math, and individualized instruction for students with ADHD, autism, IEPs, and other special education needs.

In reading, I support phonics, decoding, spelling, fluency, comprehension, and written language using structured, explicit, and multisensory instruction. My goal is to help students understand how reading works rather than relying on guessing or memorization.

In math, I help students strengthen foundational skills, fill learning gaps, and break challenging problems into clear, manageable steps. I use explicit instruction, visuals, hands-on strategies, repetition, and multiple ways of explaining concepts based on how each student learns best.

Throughout my career, I have worked with students who avoided reading, struggled with math, had difficulty maintaining attention, became overwhelmed by multi-step tasks, or simply needed more individualized instruction. I understand that academic struggles can affect a child’s confidence, so I create a supportive environment where mistakes are part of learning and progress feels achievable.

My goal is to identify where your child needs additional support, provide clear and systematic instruction, and help them develop skills and strategies they can use more independently at school and beyond.

Every student learns differently. My job is to meet them where they are and help make learning feel achievable.

Approved Subjects

ADHD

ADHD

I hold a Master of Education from Johns Hopkins University and have over 15 years supporting students with ADHD across settings ranging from preschool through middle school. Over the last five years specifically I have worked with third grade classrooms, special education settings, and private 1:1 tutoring where students carried multiple diagnoses including ADHD alongside dyslexia and other learning differences. I use Science of Reading methodology and Wilson Reading System principles to teach phonemic awareness, decoding, and fluency in sessions built around how ADHD learners actually process and retain information. My students build real foundational reading skills alongside the structure and confidence they need to sustain growth.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

I am a certified educator with a Master of Education from Johns Hopkins University and training in special education. Through my work in life skills classrooms, dyslexia intervention, and private tutoring, I have supported autistic students with a variety of academic and learning needs. I provide individualized instruction that builds on each student's strengths while supporting communication, organization, and academic growth. My goal is to create a supportive learning environment where students can build confidence and succeed.
Dyslexia

Dyslexia

I am a Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner with a Master of Education from Johns Hopkins University and over 15 years of experience supporting struggling readers. I provide structured literacy instruction grounded in the Science of Reading, including phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding, fluency, and comprehension. I have worked with students with dyslexia in both classroom and one-on-one settings to strengthen foundational reading skills. My instruction is individualized, systematic, and designed to build both reading proficiency and confidence.
Special Needs

Special Needs

I hold a Master's degree in Education, and hold a certification in special education and have extensive experience supporting students with a variety of special needs, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning differences. I currently work with students in both one-on-one and small-group settings, providing individualized instruction that builds academic skills, confidence, and independence. My training includes structured literacy intervention, social-emotional learning, behavior support, and differentiated instruction tailored to each learner's strengths and needs. In addition to in-person instruction, I adapt these strategies for online and hybrid learning environments. I collaborate with families to create supportive learning experiences that help students make meaningful progress while feeling successful and engaged in their learning.
