About Lauren

Bio

If your child dreads reading or has been told they just are not trying hard enough, I want you to know something. They are not broken, and you are not alone. I am Lauren, and I have spent over 15 years sitting across the table from kids who felt like reading would never click. I have watched those same children go from refusing to open a book to reading out loud with pride. That moment never gets old for me. And I know that feeling personally because I was that child too.

I struggled with learning when I was younger and spent time in and out of tutoring myself. That experience never left me. It is actually what brought me to this work and what keeps me in it. I earned my Master of Education from Johns Hopkins University and my Bachelor of Arts in English from Howard University. I am also certified in the Wilson Reading System and hold a Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner certification. I specialize in working with students who have dyslexia and autism using a multisensory structured literacy approach that actually sticks. I have worked in life skills classrooms, resource rooms, and one on one settings with students from kindergarten all the way through high school.

What drives me is not the credentials. It is the kid who finally exhales in a session because someone made learning feel safe. I build every lesson around the whole child because confidence and calm are just as important as phonics. If your child is struggling, I would love to be part of their breakthrough.

Approved Subjects

ADHD

ADHD

I hold a Master of Education from Johns Hopkins University and have over 15 years supporting students with ADHD across settings ranging from preschool through middle school. Over the last five years specifically I have worked with third grade classrooms, special education settings, and private 1:1 tutoring where students carried multiple diagnoses including ADHD alongside dyslexia and other learning differences. I use Science of Reading methodology and Wilson Reading System principles to teach phonemic awareness, decoding, and fluency in sessions built around how ADHD learners actually process and retain information. My students build real foundational reading skills alongside the structure and confidence they need to sustain growth.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

I am a certified educator with a Master of Education from Johns Hopkins University and training in special education. Through my work in life skills classrooms, dyslexia intervention, and private tutoring, I have supported autistic students with a variety of academic and learning needs. I provide individualized instruction that builds on each student's strengths while supporting communication, organization, and academic growth. My goal is to create a supportive learning environment where students can build confidence and succeed.
Dyslexia

Dyslexia

I am a Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner with a Master of Education from Johns Hopkins University and over 15 years of experience supporting struggling readers. I provide structured literacy instruction grounded in the Science of Reading, including phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding, fluency, and comprehension. I have worked with students with dyslexia in both classroom and one-on-one settings to strengthen foundational reading skills. My instruction is individualized, systematic, and designed to build both reading proficiency and confidence.
Special Needs

Special Needs

I hold a Master's degree in Education, and hold a certification in special education and have extensive experience supporting students with a variety of special needs, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning differences. I currently work with students in both one-on-one and small-group settings, providing individualized instruction that builds academic skills, confidence, and independence. My training includes structured literacy intervention, social-emotional learning, behavior support, and differentiated instruction tailored to each learner's strengths and needs. In addition to in-person instruction, I adapt these strategies for online and hybrid learning environments. I collaborate with families to create supportive learning experiences that help students make meaningful progress while feeling successful and engaged in their learning.
