Hello, my name is Madeleine Bolz and I am a graduate-level composition assistant with a Master of Music in Composition from Southern Methodist University and a Bachelor of Music in Horn Performance from Northern Illinois University. My academic and professional work includes international study and performances in Vienna, Paris, and across the United States, as well as international presentations in musicology at the graduate level.
I bring over six years of teaching experience in both private and public educational settings, working with students ranging from kindergarten through graduate-level musicians. I specialize in horn, music composition, music theory, aural skills, music fundamentals, and music history.
My teaching approach is highly individualized and goal-oriented. I work closely with each student—and parents when applicable—to develop a personalized curriculum that supports their unique learning style and musical goals. Lessons include structured materials, practice assignments, and consistent progress check-ins to ensure steady growth and long-term success.
In addition to teaching, I have extensive experience in performance, composition, and audio production, which allows me to offer a well-rounded and practical approach to music education.
