I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education (Youth & Community Studies, Child & Adolescent Psychology) from the University of Texas at Austin and have spent the past 10 years teaching music to students of all ages, with most of my experience working with teens, college-age musicians, and adults. Alongside teaching, I’ve been an active performer for over 20 years, which strongly informs how I approach instruction. My background blends formal education with real-world music experience, allowing me to meet students where they are and help them progress in a practical, confidence-building way.

Much of my teaching experience comes from serving in a church music director role, where I led multiple bands each week through rehearsals and live performances. In this setting, I taught musicians how to play together as an ensemble, understand their role within a song, and develop parts that support the overall arrangement. I regularly created chord charts, coached musicians on specific guitar parts, and offered real-time feedback in both group rehearsals and one-on-one settings when someone needed extra support. This environment required clear communication, adaptability, and the ability to help musicians of varying skill levels grow quickly and collaboratively.

In addition to guitar and songwriting, I work extensively in Logic Pro and am comfortable teaching recording basics, demo creation, arrangement, and mixing fundamentals. I’m largely self-taught in production, which helps me relate well to beginners and hobbyists who want a clear, approachable path forward without unnecessary technical overwhelm. My teaching style is laid back, encouraging, and practical, with an emphasis on understanding why things work, not just memorizing steps. Whether you’re brand new, returning to music after time away, or trying to finish songs you’ve started, my goal is to help you make steady, meaningful progress and enjoy the process along the way.
