Hi, my name is Caroline and I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from NC State University. During college, I spent one year as a drop-in tutor for the College of Natural Resources helping students in anything from organic chemistry and physics to economics. This was during the COVID era so all my sessions were online. I used online whiteboards to help students to draw out the problems and lead them through step by step solutions to types of problems they were struggling with. My tutoring style is to ask leading questions to help students get in the habit of asking themselves these questions as they go forward in homework and exams. I received positive feedback from the students for showing different methods on how to approach problems from a highly visual perspective.
I am now a process engineer in a manufacturing facility and our number one rule for problem solving is to DRAW A PICTURE. I bring this mindset to all my tutoring sessions.
I also tutored a few high school freshman in chemistry as an upper classman when in high school. One of the students had not passed an exam all year until I started working with her. Then, she achieved a B on her next exam.
Another fun fact about me is that I ran track and field for NC State and am an All-American athlete. I can also answer questions and give advice for those pursuing being a student-athlete in college.
