Hello there, I'm Nicolas! I graduated summa cum laude with honors from Baylor University with a degree in University Scholars and minors in Great Texts and Greek. Although I have always loved to read and write, I love it when teachers are able to open up a text and explain its historical context and impact.
I have helped multiple students one-on-one with writing essays for college applications. When essay writing, I love helping a student move from merely summarizing to having original ideas. The point of the essay, after all, is not just to restate but rather to think critically about what one has learned. This eureka-moment when a student discovers an idea of his or her own is often what makes a drab exercise into an exciting endeavor. Not only do I enjoy refining a student's words and grammar, I also love helping a student find their voice.
I also love creative writing! I have written two novels and published a short story, a play, and a poem. In the past year, I have helped dozens of college students working on short stories and poems in a workshop setting, one of whom went on to earn multiple awards in the Beall Poetry Festival's Student Literary Contest.
