About Alex

Bio

After earning my bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Dallas, I pursued my master’s and Ph.D. in EECS at UC Berkeley. Along the way, I delved deeply into semiconductor physics, circuit design, and wireless systems. I found it rewarding guiding others as they navigated the same terrain I once did. I’ve learned that true understanding comes when theory meets clear, relatable explanation, and I take pride in bridging that gap for my students.

While in graduate school at UC Berkeley, I honed my teaching skills as a TA for courses like Electronic Devices and Circuits and Special Topics in Wireless Design, working one-on-one and in small groups with eager undergraduates. Whether I’m walking through amplifier design or debugging MATLAB/python scripts, my focus remains the same: empower students to ask “why,” experiment fearlessly, and build confidence with every problem they solve. By tailoring my approach to each learner’s pace and perspective, I help college-aged students feel supported as they tackle challenging material—so they not only grasp the fundamentals, but also gain the self-assurance to excel in their own engineering pursuits.

Approved Subjects

Calculus

Calculus

I earned my Ph.D. and M.S. in EECS at UC Berkeley and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from UT Dallas, where I mastered both single-variable and multivariable calculus. Drawing on real-world calculus examples—such as optimizing circuit responses or modeling signal behavior—I tailor each lesson to individual needs. I help learners build lasting confidence and problem-solving skills in calculus.
Computer Engineering

Computer Engineering

During my MS & PhD at UC Berkeley and BS in EE at UT Dallas I took Computer Engineering courses. I’m familiar with computer architecture, embedded systems, microcontroller, FPGAs, etc. The overlap between computer and electrical engineering is quite a lot. I designed circuits, programmed FPGAs/microcontrollers and wrote firmware while at UC Berkeley
Electrical Engineering

Electrical Engineering

I hold a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from UC Berkeley and spent 6+ teaching/mentoring undergraduates on electronic devices, circuits, and wireless design. Beyond academia, I’ve worked at Texas Instruments’ RF group, Intel’s 5G division, and Keysight Labs on high-speed IC design. My expertise spans semiconductor physics, circuit design, and embedded systems. I adapt lessons to each student’s background and pace, helping college-level students build confidence and mastery.
SAT Math

SAT Math

With a Ph.D. & MS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from UC Berkeley and engineering roles at Texas Instruments, Intel, and Keysight, I bring deep expertise in algebra, geometry, probability, and data analysis directly to SAT Math prep. By combining official practice questions, timing strategies, and intuitive problem-solving heuristics, I help students master concepts and build the confidence to excel on test day.

Excellent Tutor for My Son on Digital Logic Circuits

My son got a D in DLC. Alex reviewed my son's study habits and went over his problem areas. Then they worked through some problems. Alex discussed the concepts that drove the process. Excellent tutor. Patient, encouraging and very clear in his explanations. We will be using him weekly.
