Hello! I have bachelors degrees (summa cum laude) in Mathematics and Physics, a Ph.D. in Mathematics, and a J.D. (law degree). I have a passion for learning about all of these subjects and teaching them to others. In fact, although I don't have formal degrees in them, there are also a number of related fields I've developed deep interests in over the years -- philosophy, theology, and history, for example. The more you learn, the more all areas of knowledge seem to be related!

I have tutored mathematics and physics at the college level for over twenty years, and have taught college math in a classroom setting as an instructor or professor for over ten. I also taught a college physics lab course for a couple of years. I have also tutored high-school students in math, English, and SAT prep over a twenty-year period. The most important thing to me when I tutor is that the student be engaged and be led to an answer through their own thinking. You can watch me do problems all day, but that's not really helpful -- I want to see *you* do the problem. By breaking things down into smaller pieces and relating them to things you already know, I'll get the chance to see you solve problems that you don't think you can do!

The most fulfilling experience is when a student who thinks they don't like a given subject gets so good at it that they start to experience it as beautiful and compelling (occasionally even deciding to study it full-time). I hope I can help that happen for you.

I can tutor calculus or linear algebra, both of which I've taught in a classroom setting and tutored. I can also tutor SAT math, GRE, and the LSAT. I have taken all three exams and would like to help you achieve your maximum potential with them!
