I was born in Puerto Rico, U.S.A. and have been teaching for 11 years. During that time I have taught and and still learners in preschool, 1st , 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. I'm passionate about teaching Reading, Writing, Spelling and Social Studies (all of these in English and Spanish).
My teaching experience along the last 11 years has been (and still is) in Dallas, Texas, working for the Dallas Independent School District. I possess a Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and Translation (English-Spanish, Spanish-English), and a Masters' Degree in Public Administration. Both degrees were conferred by the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras campus.
On 1998 I was selected to participate in an Exchange program with the University of Massachusetts at Boston to complete my junior year. During that time I held a side job tutoring students that were learning Spanish.
In Texas, I became an EC-6 Certified Bilingual Teacher. My bilingual background permits me to bring a unique perspective to my teaching, always focused on making learning engaging and inclusive of diverse backgrounds.
On the other hand, Spanish is my native language. This allows me to connect with Spanish speaking parents and students on a deeper level. To make online learning enjoyable and effective, my focus is positivity, good energy, praise, and enthusiasm...Learning should bring enjoyment!
During the last two school years, I have represented my school by leading two very distinguished competitions: The Lone Star Challenge and the Scripps Spelling Bee. I'm a spelling super-fan!
Adapting teaching methods to meet the individual needs of each learner is of utmost importance. For me, the "one size fits all" is out of the question.
Can't wait to start working with new students!
