I am a native Chinese and grew up in China. After graduation from Shanghai JianQiao University in 2011 with a diploma in International Trade and Japanese, I went to work and study accounting in Nagoya, Japan. In 2012, I joined a Chinese language school as an instructor and taught Chinese for all levels using Japanese. Even though I was studying accounting, I found myself enjoying helping students and gradually spent more and more time teaching. Many of my students were Japanese businessmen seeking to advance their career by working more closely with their Chinese partners. While my specialty is business Chinese for busy professionals, I have also taught basic Chinese for children and HSK language proficiency preparation.
In 2018, I moved from Nagoya to Texas with my husband and have continued to work with my students online. I like to rely on the formal structure of a textbook as a general framework to help set goals and keep up a good pace. However, I also customize each individual lesson to what the student needs most. I also keep a solid focus on pronunciation at every level to help the student sound more natural and improve confidence in speaking. It is important to me that the student feels like he or she is making progress with each lesson. Language learning is a lifetime endeavor and it is important to stay motivated!
