Hi - I'm Terry! I've been teaching and tutoring math and physics (AP, calculus-based) in Dallas high schools and colleges since 2013. I graduated from Princeton University with a BSE (high honors) and have two graduate Aerospace Engineering degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where I minored in Applied Mathematics. Since retiring from my engineering career, I've enjoyed devoting considerable time to tutoring a few, motivated students from the local high schools and colleges.

I teach in a way that holds students' interests, encourages their participation and helps make learning an enjoyable challenge rather than just a task. How? by bringing into the lessons current events, riddles and humor that relate to the subject matter and cause students to think in different ways, according to their various learning styles. When a student has a question about a problem, I employ Socratic questioning to lead him or her to the right answer. I love it when a student has a Eureka moment!

My tutoring can be both in-person and/or remote. I tutor in-person at students' homes or at mutually convenient public places. Here in my home office, I use a digital stylus and virtual whiteboard to work out problems with students on-screen.

I charge only for time spent face-to-face with my students. Whether we tutor in-person or remote, I'll review your written solutions to problems and provide written comments and alternate solutions at no charge.

Just let me know when you would like to talk about your math and/or physics tutoring. I can start when you’re ready, and would like to meet with you, determine a fit, and get a little more information before we settle on a tutoring plan. I'm easy to reach and promise to reply to your inquiry swiftly!

Reviews

The BEST TUTOR ever

I am not one to write reviews but love giving credit where credit is due especially when someone is exceptional. Terry is very knowledgeable, reallly connects with my teenage son, is wonderful at teaching complicated concepts, and is simply just a amazing and kindhearted person. We couldn't have asked for more.
