Bio

Since I was 14, I was quite intrigued by the way the world worked. From disassembling items, such as dad's radio and Mom's blender, to trying to understand what controlled the orbits of the moons and planets.

Since I was 14, I was quite intrigued by the way the world worked. From disassembling items, such as dad's radio and Mom's blender, to trying to understand what controlled the orbits of the moons and planets.
It was during my time as a junior in undergraduate school in Los Angeles, while I was in my second year as a teaching assistant, that I realized the immense joy in teaching. The gratification of conveying an understanding of a concept or phenomenon to someone who had little or no understanding of it, was exhilarating. My greatest joy was seeing the student's eyes light up when they 'got it'. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physics and then went onward to San Diego state university with a desire to learn more
I continued teaching throughout my 2 years at graduate school and then was subsequently involved in teaching students of all ages including adults till the present. I currently am the teacher of the record at Davis High School where I teach, AP Physics, OnRamps Physics and Physics Honors
Concepts understood are rarely forgotten while concepts memorized are subsequently forgotten.

My daughter had four lessons with Mr. Aqueel because she was lost in her AP Physics class. Before each lesson she had a defeated attitude and was very confused, however, as soon as the teacher would leave, she would close the door and dance up and down in excitement because she had actually understood the material!
