Hello, everyone! I have been a tutor on WyzAnt for 12 years, and I was also employed for two years as tutor for high school students at a school district. Currently, I specialize in pre-nursing classes, including Anatomy and Physiology 1 and 2, Microbiology, and General Chemistry 1 (or Introductory Chemistry). In addition, throughout my time as a tutor for WyzAnt, I have helped pre-nursing students with the nursing entrance exams: the HESI A2 and the ATI TEAS. I have personally taken the ATI TEAS test and especially the HESI A2 (so I definitely know what's expected of these tests)! (Please refer to my subject descriptions for the TEAS to see more details). I also gained medical experience via taking an EMT-Basic class in 2014. I was a volunteer EMT in 2018 and 2019 which helped provide real-life applications of anatomy and physiology.
I still am more than willing to help high school students in a wide range of subjects (both regular and Pre-AP Honors) including anatomy and physiology, microbiology, biology, chemistry, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and English I-IV (Pre-AP for only English I and II).

I graduated from University of Houston Victoria with a Bachelor's in Criminal Justice. I had planned on using my bachelor's degree to get into a second-degree BSN program (which is why I have experience in pre-nursing courses and nursing entrance exams). However, I decided to pursue a different medical degree. I want to help students using my experiences with the TEAS and HESI A2 and pre-nursing courses to help them achieve their dreams of nursing school.

I prefer working with individual students. I get to know each student individually and use their personality preferences and interests to find interesting analogies to help them comprehend difficult concepts. I break information down into the simplest terms possible and give them helpful tips on how to remember and retain information.

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have tutored high school students in Algebra 1 for four years! I earned A's in Algebra 1 in high school and consistently helped my friends obtain A's on tests by helping explain concepts to them. I believe Algebra 1 is the best math subject I can tutor, since I believe I have mastered it fully through both my experience as a tutor and my rigorous coursework during high school.
Anatomy

Anatomy

I have extensive knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology. Anatomy and Physiology is an enthralling subject for me- I loved helping my fellow classmates in high school when I took Anatomy and Physiology my senior year. In college, I made an "A" in Anatomy and Physiology II and I also made a 100% on the Anatomy and Physiology portion of my Pre-Nursing Entrance Exam (HESI).
Biology

Biology

During high school when I first took Biology, I absolutely adored the class and learning everything about the biological world around me. My classmates often sought my help because of my thorough understanding of the material and I was glad to help them. I finished the class with a high "A". When I entered college and took General Biology, I enjoyed learning even more about the subject. I finished my General Biology I class also with an "A". I have such a passion for Biology- I understand it in detail and I love learning new things about it every single day. I teach many students in Biology and I enjoy drawing diagrams, giving lots of examples, and having a little fun while I'm teaching it to them.
Chemistry

Chemistry

Chemistry is another fascinating subject to me and I have always enjoyed the Chemistry courses I have taken in high school and college. I thoroughly enjoy tutoring my students all levels of chemistry from elementary school science to General Chemistry I.
English

English

I took Pre-AP English I and II from a top Fort Bend school and made A's in English for all four years of high school English. Throughout those four years, especially my junior and senior year, I helped many of my classmates during the research and writing process. I've also taken English in college and made A's. At my professional job at F.B.I.S.D., I tutor in all four levels of English, including Pre-AP and AP English. I love to edit, revise, and review papers constructively to improve grammar, vocabulary, flow, organization, and structure. This is one of the subjects I love to tutor in because it's exciting and interesting to read the styles of each individual and to help them write and analyze a beautiful paper.
Microbiology

Microbiology

All through high school Biology, one of my favorite topics within the course discussed viruses and bacteria. I love studying about infections and diseases caused by microorganisms! When I took College Microbiology, I made an "A" in the course! It was one of my favorite courses in college.
Physiology

Physiology

I took Anatomy and Physiology 1 and 2, and I made an "A" in A&P 2. I also have experience in anatomy and physiology from when I took an EMT Basic class. I have tutored numerous high school and college students in A&P and Human Biology through both online and in-person lessons.
TEAS

TEAS

I have completed both the HESI A2 and TEAS V exam tests. I made a 100% on the Anatomy and Physiology portions of both exams. Overall, I made a 96.4% on the HESI A2 and a 94% on the TEAS V exam.
Writing

BEST TUTOR EVER!

I scored a 92% on ATI TEAs 7 Exam all thanks to Leah! First off Leah is very reasonable with prices and lessons plans! Our first meeting was discussing the best lesson plan for me which she created herself that offered super affordable prices with great material. I started my studies back in December and took my test at the end of January. We studied 3 times a week ranging anywhere from 1 hour - 2 hours. During our live lessons, Leah did a great job at explaining all the material in the lesson, while also offering quiz questions and going into depth with questions I had. My two highest scoring sections were the ones I did live with Leah (Science and English). She gave me resources and great materials to do at my own pace for Reading and Math. Overall if you are looking for help with the TEAs exam I would 100000% recommend Leah!

Amazing tutor!

Leah is a very helpful and smart tutor, she uses various methods to help me understand concepts that confused me. She will use mnemonics, little drawings, and other ways to remember content to really make the concept(s) really stick. Thank you for being my tutor Leah! :)

Very Knowledgeable. She's AMAZING!

I had my first session with Leah and she is so on point with everything. She gave me homework to do at home and worksheets I can do on my own time. Her lectures are amazing and I can't wait to have more sessions with her. She is amazing and really goes over everything. Looking for forward for our next sessions and to prepare for the TEAS with her.

Kind, Patient, and Effective Tutor

We had our first lesson with Leah, and it was a great experience. She was kind and patient as we discussed her teaching plan and explored how my daughter learns best. She focused on the areas where my daughter needed the most help, and by the end of the session, my daughter felt more confident and excited for the next lesson. We’re really looking forward to continuing with her!

I had one tutoring session on microbiology, and it was very helpful. Leah answered all my questions, and I felt more confident about the topic after just one session. She also provided additional information after the session ended. Highly recommend! Thank you so much 😊
