I have been helping students understand math since I was in high school. I take the time to understand how each student thinks and learns, identify where a concept stopped making sense, and then find an explanation that works for that student.
I have an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University, as well as a J.D. from the University of Arizona. I previously tutored mathematics and SAT preparation professionally with Huntington Learning Center, and more recently I have helped high school students, including my daughter and several of her friends, prepare for the SAT. I tutor SAT Math and mathematics through AP Calculus BC.
My goal is not simply to help a student finish tonight’s homework or memorize enough steps to pass the next test. I want them to understand the underlying math well enough to take what we work on together back into the classroom and build on it independently. Sometimes that means approaching the same idea several different ways until we find the one that clicks. I want students to leave tutoring not only able to solve the problem in front of them, but better equipped to tackle the next problem on their own.
