I am a Johns Hopkins University graduate with a degree in Biology and hold a Master's from Case Western Reserve University in Pathology. I have spent the past few years tutoring my friends and other students, helping them understand complex biology subjects including biochemistry, genetics, experimental reasoning and design, physiology, and microbiology.
After studying for and taking the MCAT myself, I understood that knowledge of concepts will only take a student so far in their preparation for exam day. Just as important as understanding the concept under test is the ability to approach problems and construct mental frameworks to tackle MCAT questions. Many successful students in undergraduate and graduate-level biology courses already know the requisite information to find success but find preparation and testing challenging because the MCAT asks questions in a way that is completely different from what students encounter in their coursework.
My goal is to help students build confidence in their knowledge and understand how to apply it effectively to the exam. To achieve this, I find it valuable to emphasize strategy, especially in error-based studying, passage breakdown, and pattern recognition across questions. If you're looking for a way to begin studying or to break through a scoring plateau, I would be glad to work with you!
I also offer tutoring to college pre-meds prior to their MCAT studying journey, including university biology-related subjects.
