Experienced Tutor for Middle School and Highschool Math

Hello! My name is Amrita, and I am currently a college student majoring in Molecular Biology. I first discovered my love for teaching in highschool, while helping my friends study, and since then, tutoring has become something I truly enjoy. For the past 5 years, I have been teaching Kannada at a non-profit organization, where I help students ages 5 and up, prepare for credit by exam. In addition, I have 1 year of experience tutoring mathematics for students ages 10 and up. In this role, I instructed groups of five students at a well-known tutoring company, focusing on core concepts including fractions, order of operations (PEMDAS), Algebra I and II, and Geometry.

I have a strong passion for math, especially when it comes to Geometry or Calculus, and I love sharing my enthusiasm with others! I have completed Calculus I, II and III at the college level, and continue to use these concepts regularly in my coursework. I am also happy to tutor for high school biology, chemistry, or physics, and I have previously taken college level courses in Biology I, General Chemistry I, Physics I and Physics II.

During sessions, I like to break down complex problems into clear, step-by-step explanations based on things we already know. I usually start with an example that we work through together, giving the students plenty of time to ask questions. After answering those questions, I check for understanding by having the student solve a problem on their own. I also adjust my teaching style to match each student's needs, using visuals, real world examples, and extra practice as needed.

My top priority during each session is to help students clearly understand the material and feel comfortable asking questions. I always strive to make sure that students leave the session feeling more confident than when they arrived.
