About Anna

Bio

Hi there, I'm Anna, a college freshman studying engineering at A&M and a National Merit Finalist! I specialize in making complex STEM subjects and essay writing easy to understand, manageable, and approachable. I graduated with 12 AP classes under my belt, earning 4s and 5s, a weighted GPA of 4.73, and a 1560 SAT. Having recently navigated the rigors of AP courses and college applications, I know what it takes to succeed, overcome academic anxiety, and build effective study skills.

My tutoring background includes a summer of volunteer tutoring groups of 10 high school students through Schoolhouse for online SAT Math Prep, where I learned how to teach students to break down difficult topics into smaller problems. I learned that effective tutoring isn't just explaining a topic, but guiding students through the process of reaching the right answer. An outline of a tutoring session would include a fun introduction to the main idea, a thorough teaching of the material, and practice time. Of course this will vary and can be adjusted based on your individual needs - if you're having trouble I'll slow down, or I will add time to ask questions. I often utilize the Teach-Back method, where I will quickly check a student's understanding in order to catch any errors and correct misconceptions.

Whether your student is struggling with the logic of Calculus (AB & BC), intuitive nature of AP Physics Mechanics, or piecing together a compelling essay, I leave them feeling more confident than they started. Feel free to contact me with any additional questions or to schedule a session!

Approved Subjects

Biology

Biology

I took Biology twice in high school, once in 9th grade and again in 11th grade, earning a 5 on the AP test. In addition, I'm passionate about biology and I love to learn on my own time.
Calculus

Calculus

I took Calculus BC in my junior year and scored a 5. My school's Calculus program was really good and our teacher did a great job of explaining the concepts of limits, derivatives, and integrals to us. I am now taking Calc 3, meaning that I am actively reviewing Calculus II for my Calc 3 class. When I was in the class, I had a group of friends and we always studied together and explained the topics to each other.
English

English

I took AP English Language as well as AP English Literature and earned a 5 on both. I have also gotten a 790/800 on SAT Reading. I have always loved English and I will break down the tiny grammar rules to make them easier!
Geometry

Geometry

I took advanced geometry in 8th grade, 2 years ahead of regular pace. In geometry, I got an A and later, I tutored my brother in geometry. From this I was able to keep up my geometry knowledge. Also, the tutoring I did in schoolhouse involved a lot of geometry.
Physical Science

Physical Science

I scored in the top 99% for my middle school science STAAR test. Since then, I have taken classes like physics that have reinforced my expertise in various areas of Physical Science.
Physics

Physics

I took AP Physics C my senior year, which was only a couple months ago, and got a 4 without taking prior physics classes. I also participated in an after school quantum physics program, which aided in my understanding of waves.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I took PreCalc sophomore year and earned a 5 on the AP test, which was the first year it was administered. At A&M, all the engineering students have to take a math placement exam, most of which is pre calculus. Because of that, I have had to review and fill in the gaps of what I otherwise might've forgotten.
PSAT

PSAT

I took the PSAT in junior year in October, scoring a 1480, which is in the top 1% of scorers nationwide. On the reading, I scored a 760. On the math, I scored a 720. Also, I tutored SAT Math on schoolhouse, much of which draws on PSAT math.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I first took the SAT my junior year in April, and I earned a 750 on the math section after starting with a 610 in practice tests. Furthermore, I tutored SAT Math the summer after my junior year.
SAT Reading

SAT Reading

I have aways loved reading and English class, but I still had to study for SAT Reading. I started out with a 680 in practice tests and from drilling vocab, learning little grammar rules, and practicing my reading stamina, I went up over a 100 points to a SAT Reading score of 790.
