Hi, I’m Sam! I have 38 hours towards my Master of Arts degree in Family Therapy from University of Houston Clear Lake, a Bachelor of Arts degree from Sam Houston State University, and an Associates of Arts degree from Houston Community College.

I have experience being the teacher of record for 6th grade Social Studies teacher of record as well as teaching adult education classes to probationers and parolees as a contractor with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. When I taught 6th grade, I would meet before and after school to tutor and when I worked in adult education, I would meet clients before classes and during school for tutoring in conjunction with counseling, and teaching life issues.

My goal is student success. I am accessible and would enjoy beginning to help you and yours achieve their educational goals today. Reach out to me with any questions or to schedule a tutoring session.

Special Needs

Special Needs

Whereas I myself have cerebral palsy, I can honestly say that I understand what it’s like to have an ongoing struggle that few people comprehend. I assist in special education classes because it’s my way of giving back. I have experience as a counselor and have worked in special needs school programs for several years. I see each child as an individual. I can’t stand it when children get labeled and then pushed to the side by those who do not realize the unique potential that all children (regardless of ability) hold. My aspiration is to be part of your child’s success in some small way. I will be honored to be their tutor.

Caring, Creative and Comprehensive

Thank you for coming back on with us at our request, after you took another appointment, to review the progress we have made on the assignment and at that point helping to complete some of the concepts we wanted to confirm. The validation gave us the nudge of confidence that we completed it right. I really appreciate the real life examples. It helped for our food web to be more unique than what some of the other students are probably creating based off of Google alone. Sam was even able to help us navigate through instructions that were oddly worded, which is one of the many concerns with the actual school district teacher’s style often involves guess -work on our part to figure out what she is expecting out of the assignment. Sam was aware of her grammatical errors and plainly explain what she actually meant for us to do in the assignment.

Great Help for Understanding Concepts

He was patient, flexible, and made sure to check for understanding throughout the session. He provided helpful examples and explanations that helped my son better grasp the material. We really felt cared for—he didn’t treat it like just an appointment and seemed genuinely invested in making sure my son was confident, even offering to review and continue as needed. He was also personable and even brought some humor into the session, which helped my son feel comfortable and engaged. There were occasional pauses where Sam seemed to grab more information and moments where we had to listen closely, but overall he was supportive, professional, and very affordable. A positive and helpful experience. Thank you Sam for helping with our Food Web!
