European History

My expertise includes teaching about the Italian and Northern Renaissance, The Bubonic Plague, Invention of the Printing Press in Europe, The Fall of Constantinople, The Era of European Exploration, The Protestant Reformation, Reign of Elizabeth I, King William III and The Glorious Revolution, The First Industrial Revolution, The French Revolution and Napoleon, European Industrialization, The Rise of Global Alliances, World War I, The Post War Depression and The Rise of Dictators, World War II, The Cold War, The end of colonization in Africa, & The Modern European Union. I look forward to tutoring students in these subjects and more.

Geography

I have a minor in Geography (nearly enough hours to be a double major in Geography along with my History degree). I have also taught Geography at the middle school level.

Public Speaking

Don’t be dispirited by disquisition, or don’t be intimidated by elaborate speech. I will help you overcome your fear of public speaking, and you will have fun doing it! I have over 20 years’ experience in business and education as well as experience during my adolescent years as an award-winning student in extemporaneous public speaking and debate. Regardless of your path in life, in time you will need to present a pleasant peroration. This is true no matter your accent or background. I look forward to speaking with you.

Reading

My expertise include: Teaching Main Idea of a Text, Teaching Decoding of Text, Teaching Reading Proficiency, Teaching & Word Recognition. I continue to teach Fluency as grade levels bring about more complicated reading. I also prepare students to be able to read from a wide variety of different types of texts such as novels, manuals, poetry, websites, blogs and other forms of literary media. I have expertise in teaching students K-12 as well as adults.

Social Studies

My expertise includes teaching the specifics of prehistory and the earliest civilizations. I have taught and tutored classes on ancient Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt, Ancient African Kingdoms, Ancient India, Ancient China, Life among the Native Americans, The Ancient Hebrew People, Ancient and Classical Greece, Rome as well as the rise of Early Christianity. Special Needs

Whereas I myself have cerebral palsy, I can honestly say that I understand what it’s like to have an ongoing struggle that few people comprehend. I assist in special education classes because it’s my way of giving back. I have experience as a counselor and have worked in special needs school programs for several years. I see each child as an individual. I can’t stand it when children get labeled and then pushed to the side by those who do not realize the unique potential that all children (regardless of ability) hold. My aspiration is to be part of your child’s success in some small way. I will be honored to be their tutor.
