With a Master of Education, which I earned magna cum laude from Arizona State University, and a Master of Arts in English, I have spent over a decade teaching writing and literature at both the high school and college levels. I currently serve as a dual credit English instructor affiliated with Panola College and Maricopa Community Colleges, where I teach college composition courses to students who are still in high school. This means I hold my students to genuine college standards while remaining deeply attuned to where they are developmentally as young writers.
My classroom experience spans a wide range of students and contexts — from all levels of high school English to college composition courses taught on campus. I have taught American, British, and World Literature, Academic Writing, and Public Speaking at both the secondary and post-secondary level. I have also worked one-on-one with struggling writers and bring a strong foundation in differentiated instruction from my time teaching internationally. My approach centers on building confidence first, then skill — I find that most students who struggle with writing simply haven't been shown how to think through their ideas before they write.
I am particularly strong in college essay coaching, MLA writing, literary analysis, grammar, and composition at all levels from high school through college. I genuinely enjoy working one-on-one with students because the progress is so visible and so fast compared to a classroom setting.
