About Rachel

Hello and Hola!

In today's fast-paced global society being multilingual is almost a necessity. As a former executive for several global companies I know firsthand how important it is to excel in English and Spanish.

If you're interested in learning Spanish (or are checking me out for your child) then read on...if you're interested in learning more about English or ESL/ESOL tutoring then skip to the next paragraph. I have undergrad degrees in Spanish and journalism and have lived and worked in Latin America, Europe and Asia. I make learning Spanish fun (even for reluctant students who are only attending tutoring because Mom/Dad is making them!) through real world applications such as music, movies, sports, food, dance, art and social media.

In addition to Spanish, I also have experience working with ESL/ESOL students and professionals and native English speakers. Drawing upon my educational and professional background, I am equipped to help with everything from the traditional English reading/writing/speaking/listening to native accent reduction and preparation for important job/school interviews, work presentations, etc. My time studying and working abroad provided me with unique insight and I look forward to sharing that as we work together to attain your goal.

I'm fluent in English and Spanish and have knowledge of French, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

Thanks and gracias,
Rachel

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

She has a wonderfully infectious love of language!

My high school daughter had a D in Spanish before we started tutoring with Rachel. She now has an A in Spanish and plans to minor in Spanish in college. This dramatic change is because of Rachel's influence and tutoring. Rachel makes learning fun and interesting! I highly recommend her as a Spanish tutor.
