Thank you for visiting my profile! I have been teaching and tutoring mathematics for more than 25 years. Helping students gain confidence in math is one of the most rewarding parts of my career.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education, a Master of Education in Educational Administration, and I am an Illinois- and Texas-certified mathematics teacher. Throughout my career, I have taught middle school, high school, and college mathematics in classroom, online, and one-on-one settings.
For the last 17 years, I have taught high school math in Texas. I currently teach college mathematics at the local community college, both in person and online, and I previously owned and operated a tutoring center where I worked with students of many ages, learning styles, and ability levels.
I specialize in Middle School Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and College Algebra, and I enjoy helping students strengthen their skills whether they need ongoing support, homework help, or test preparation.
Every student learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to the individual. I begin by identifying the concepts a student already understands and then build from there, explaining each step clearly and patiently. I encourage students to ask questions, think through problems, and become confident, independent learners. I also take time to listen to each student's unique needs and concerns so I can provide the support that works best for them.
When appropriate, I help students and families understand how to communicate effectively with their school or teacher and encourage them to advocate for themselves.
Many students come to me feeling frustrated or convinced they are "not good at math," and one of my favorite moments is seeing that confidence grow as they begin solving problems successfully on their own.
Whether you're looking to improve grades, prepare for an exam, or feel more confident in math, I would love the opportunity to help you reach your goals!
