Bio

I have over 35 years of experience teaching all levels of math from high school Algebra I and II to Calculus as well as Engineering Statics and Dynamics. I loved every minute of teaching for each of those years. My students had extremely high success rates (and I was not an easy grader). I have over 35 years of experience teaching all levels of math from high school Algebra I and II to Calculus as well as Engineering Statics and Dynamics. I loved every minute of teaching for each of those years. My students had extremely high success rates (and I was not an easy grader). Their success and reviews were the foundation of the teaching awards I received from my local college, my state and ultimately my selection as the CASE/Carnegie U. S. Professor of the Year for Community Colleges. Now that I am retired, I miss working with students, so I have decided to tutor.

My Engineering PhD was Interdisciplinary and enabled me to bridge the gap between the education theory and cognitive engineering views of the learning process. Combining all these complementary, yet diverse, areas of expertise, and my training as an engineer to be a fixer, I will do whatever it takes to help a student be successful. Students have told me that my many nominations are because I obviously love teaching and work so diligently to help them.

I have taught Beginning and Intermediate Algebra (equivalent to Algebra I and II in high school), College Algebra, Trigonometry, Precalculus, Calculus I and Engineering Statics and Dynamics for decades! My three degrees are all in engineering and that knowledge helps me to explain math theory in practical terms. You may only need to have a brief question answered, which I will be happy to do. However, if you feel you need long term help throughout a semester, I would like to teach you not only the math but also help you determine the best strategies for you to learn, study and take tests so that you would, hopefully, not need a tutor in your next math or engineering classes.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. I would be pleased to work with you to improve your math skills, find more effective and efficient study and test taking strategies, and provide advice for achieving your math or engineering degree.

Calculus 1

I highly recommend her to anyone needing help with Calculus. She tutored my daughter for about 6 months. She has a doctorate degree and 35 years of experience teaching college level math classes, also serving as the dean of the college. She’s outstanding. She’s a wealth of information, and she’s good at making difficult concepts easier to learn. Her “rate my professor” reviews from her college students are excellent too. I could go on and on, but really I just feel very fortunate to have found her.

Great teacher

Who thought that some one could find calculus fun? My son is learning over the summer. She is great at going thru the material step by step and assigning work to do at home.

Incredible tutor

Kathy has changed everything for my daughter in terms of her confidence and success in math. She works with my student twice a week and spends time preparing for the sessions, truly understanding what my daughter is struggling with and needs to focus on. She cares, she goes above and beyond. She works around our very busy schedule to make sure my daughter is prepared for her tests. And my daughter loves her and looks forward to her sessions. I cannot say enough about how grateful we are to have found Kathy. Highly recommend!!

Excellent tutor!

My son needed a statics tutor after not doing well on his first test. We contacted Kathryn and she went above and beyond to help him understand the material as well as advise him on how to be successful moving forward. Will be reaching out to Kathryn in the future if he needs help with another class.

Tutoring Review

She has been the best tutor I've ever had. She is super knowledgeable about all the content in my class and always has different ways to explain each topic if I don't understand one. She is always flexible when it comes to needing more sessions, longer sessions, or need to move a session. She is just always super sweet and helpful even when it comes to topics outside of the class content such as my major and future academic endeavors. If you need a statics tutor she is the perfect person for it!
