To help you meet your academic goals, I will help you to learn more effectively and more efficiently. I ask what-if questions to check for understanding and help you see the relationships between concepts. I include strategies for studying, taking tests, and coping with the stress that students encounter. Between sessions, I will happily answer short questions off the clock by phone or by email.

For math students, I will help you translate the English in word problems into mathematical expressions that can be solved. You will improve your ability to use formulas and to know which formula to use. As needed, I will show you how to use the graphing calculator, Excel or both.

For accounting and finance students, I will walk you through how data flows through the accounting records from transactions to financial statements, how to analyze transactions so you can correctly record them, and how to interpret and analyze financial statements. As needed, I will show you how to use the financial calculator, Excel or both.

I have a bachelor's degree in math and a master's degree in accounting. I hold a Texas Lifetime Teacher Certificate in Secondary Math (grades 6 -12). I taught high school math in DeSoto, TX and Denver, CO. I taught supplemental math classes in the Dallas ISD in grades 3-6 for the nonprofit agency, Project SEED.

I have tutored students from grade 4 through graduate business school. I have been a private tutor in North Texas and Denver as well as a tutor at a community college and a university.

I am a certified public accountant with over ten years experience in public, commercial, nonprofit, and government accounting. I have taught accounting at the college level and bookkeeping in a non-credit adult education program.

Algebra 2 for Grade 10

Brian came prepared with the material we wanted him to teach our 15 yr old high school going kid. He was very detailed in his approach and made sure the student understood what he has taught by interacting and engaging conversations. Time and money well spent. Thank you Brian, shall come back for more

Great tutor/person & very patient

Brian walked me through every single detail to try to get the balance sheet to tie. Specifically the retained earnings for prior year wasn’t tying against my CY beginning retained earnings. He explained to me step by step the adjustments that should be made. He also helped me with zeroing out the balance sheet due to closure of the business. I look forward to more lessons with Brian. He’s very patient & I recommend him to anyone looking for help in accounting.

Math Tutor and all subject matters

Brian D was my math tutor from Carrollton, Texas. I lived way out in Wylie, Texas. Brian was will to meet me half way faithfully, 3 times a week at a meeting place. I am 19 years old, ADHD, and had forgotten all my math from High School. Brian D was so patient, understand, never made me feel less of myself. He is very knowledgeable, has a great understanding of math, young learners, learners with learning disabilities, and knows how they learn best. When you are in his presences you feel very comfortable, and with him there are no stupid questions, all are important. He is well worth the tutoring fee. I not only passed my GED, but am able to enter college with my scores. I truly appreciate this man. He was the key to my success. To you young ones out there, age does not mater, experience and knowledge does. Join the Brian D. Team. Angelica

Very nice and a great tutor.

Brian was a great person and tutor. He just wasn't the right fit for me. I decided to look for a tutor for my English homework. I need an English tutor who tests their students for skill level in reading. Then s/he can use that information to determine the skills to teach me while tutoring me with my English assignments.
