I have the knowledge of reading music as well as writing my own songs. I also have experience taking General Music in school and I am a part of my church choir.
Reading

Reading

Reading has always been one of my favorite subjects. I love reading as well as coming up with stories of my own. I love to help children not only improve in their reading skills but also begin to find out the kind of topics and subjects they are interested in. Once we figure out the topics of interest I can then begin to give the various resources to get them the books they love!
Special Needs

Special Needs

Currently I am a Paraprofessional in the Special Education Department at a High School. I was previously a Middle School teacher's aide in the special education department rated moderate to severe. I have a Bachelor's degree in Child and Family Community Service and have experience working with special needs students of various disabilities and learning levels. I have also taken training on Autism and have experience working one on one with an Autistic children. I feel that this would be a good position for me due to my experience and training.
STAAR

STAAR

I feel that I can tutor Elementary School students in grades 3rd through 6th due to the training and resources I have available. I have received training called: Accommodations/ STAAR A/ STAAR ALT 2. I have also used the STAAR Practice Exams, to evaluate the elementary school students I have tutored in the past, to see what subjects they are needing more help with. For example, I have used the Practice STARR booklet, Language Arts, to work with a student in her requested subject areas. And was told by her mother that the areas I found her to be weak in were the same areas she had issues with on the actual exam. I feel that an early start in preparing these students can help them to be more relaxed when testing does come around and can do better in their more difficult subject areas.
