My name is Suzi:) I have a BS in Elem. Ed, with a reading endorsement. I taught elementary education for 20 years , and am currently tutoring kids from different states, either trying to get them caught up, or pushed ahead! I believe that tutoring academic subjects goes hand-in-hand with instilling confidence in a child's heart. This is my goal for every one of my tutoring kiddos, and the main reason for why I continue tutoring:)

I know that children have many different learning styles, so I tend to adapt my lessons to whatever my kids need, in order for them to be successful. We may sing multiplication songs to help them memorize their facts, draw pictures when problem solving, and use a variety of math strategies and games, to enable each student to become more confident in their mathematical abilities.

Reading is really my specialty! I have taught children to read for 35 years now, and have had much success! I believe that there are so many components that make up the ELA block, so I try to integrate them all together. For example, I usually have a reading student read a vocabulary rich passage, and after the comprehension questions, tie in a writing/grammar lesson. I try to coordinate all of my lessons to where the objectives blend together naturally.

I also love to teach novel units, using books that draw my kids in depth into the story. This is how I have learned to instill the love of reading in each child!
