Hello! My name is Alfredo and I am currently on my third year teaching high school math! Although I have 3 official years under my belt, I have been 4 years of experience through substitute work/Teach for America! I am also certified to teach 7-12 Math!
My main focus as a teacher is forging a relationship with the student, whether it be through relating with anime, videogames, working out, etc.! I like to joke around with the kids and make sure they feel comfortable asking for help or making comments.
I've been teaching mostly Spanish speaking kids my whole career so I am comfortable translating to and from Spanish. I often like to provide real world examples to explain hard-to-grasp concepts that students struggle with like SOH CAH TOA/identifying opposite, adjacent, and hypotenuse, rationalizing a denominator or simplifying radicals. I like to focus on shortcuts to solve problems. On top of that, I have lots of experience teaching SPED students!
How is our first session most likely going to look like? I would like to gauge your math skills by providing some basic problems such as solving for X, then slowly moving up to the more complex concepts in your subject! I just want to see how you think!
