Texas A&M University (Animal Science)
I started tutoring when I was attending college and quickly earned the trust of my students as I treated them with respect and realized that different techniques were often necessary in order for each individual to learn. I am proud and happy to say that all of my students achieved their goals and several went far beyond their expectations of themselves as they were determined to succeed. After many years in corporate finance, I returned to tutoring because I really love working with people and helping them succeed. If you choose to study with me, I will bring the highest level of attention to address your needs and help you succeed in learning the English language.
While my formal education (Texas A&M University) includes hard sciences and finance, I am also fortunate to have a world-class education which includes a rigorous regime of learning the English language. I use different techniques, some of which I have developed, in helping students read, write and speak the English language. In addition to using formal techniques for developing vocabulary, grammar and sentence building skills, I also encourage the study of current events in coordination with discussions regarding the unique culture of the U.S. I find this helps students learn faster. I regularly have students come to me requesting one-on-one sessions as group classes are not working for them. We define what their needs are and develop an individual curriculum to address their needs. I look forward to doing this for you as well. I have been consistently tutoring and editing papers in the Bryan/ College Station area for over two years.
I have played saxophone professionally for over ten years. I have a formal education in music which includes, theory, composition and improvisation. My training technique not only includes scales and exercises, but also developing listening skills which is paramount in learning to play well. Whatever your needs, I am willing to discuss an opportunity to help you succeed. My schedule is flexible and I will put my best effort into making the time we spend together worthwhile. Many of my students prefer to meet face-to-face, but I can offer lessons over the internet via Skype. Please feel free to contact me to discuss your goals and we can outline a schedule to help you start learning. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
