I graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelors in Science in Oceanography. In obtaining this degree I took a plethora of different science courses ranging from Intro to biology to things like physical oceanography. For my electives I took several different biology and earth science subjects out of interest.
After graduating I became a certified teacher in the state of Texas with a certification in both Life science 7-12 and Composite science 7-12. Currently I teach in my first year at a small high school in College Station where I teach Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Forensic Science. I also help students with online classes for subjects like Earth and Space Science and Environmental Science.
The best thing about the small environment is the ability to really work one on one with the students and make sure they have a strong grasp of the content. I am very familiar with small direct instruction and coaching the kids up to speed on subjects they struggle with. The way I have found to best help students is to make the content relatable and fun. I enjoy coming up with unique ways for students to remember the more challenging topics and drawing out diagrams for the more tricky biology concepts.
