I am a focused, dedicated and highly capable Elementary Educator devoted to promoting student learning and enhancing individual potential. I am a veteran teacher with 16 years experience teaching all subject areas in the elementary setting. The majority of my teaching time has been spent educating young minds in the 2nd - 4th grades, with some experience teaching 5th graders.

My specialty is in the language arts; reading, writing, spelling and vocabulary instruction. I have worked with students using a guided reading model to differentiate instruction and enhance the reading performance of students, by focusing on their specific areas of need. I have years of experience helping students learn to read and make the transition to reading to learn. Once students have become fluent readers, I have used multiple tools to help enhance students' comprehension and sharpen their higher-order thinking skills. I have taught students the craft of writing in multiple genres, personal narratives, fictional narratives, biographies, autobiographies, and various other forms of nonfiction writing. I've instructed them in the process of writing, including editing and revising.

I enjoy using media and manipulatives to enhance my instruction, as well as to cater to many different types of learners. My ability to understand the matriculation of math concepts and recognize the importance of foundational skills and strategies allows me to reach learners, build their confidence and improve their math performance.
