I have taught Fifth Grade Reading and Language Arts and I currently teach Kindergarten. I so have experience working with Sixth Grade, also, along with Fourth Grade and Third. I am a fair teacher and the students know that.
I have tutored for Fifth Grade ELAR, last year. I enjoy tutoring because it typically a smaller amount of students, who need some extra help and acknowledge it. The students I have tutored, voluntarily signed up for it and enjoyed working in the smaller setting using different types of learning manipulatives.
I have the experience of working with children from diverse backgrounds, both financially advantaged and not so economically advantaged.
I am a reading teacher, first. I enjoy explaining the work and help the student break it down to dissect it. Vocabulary goes hand in hand with reading.
Teaching phonics and phonemes are part of my everyday class environment, specifically in Kindergarten where the students are learning to put letters and sounds together to form words to read.
Spelling is part of a reading teachers job. I give spelling lists and tests. When I give tests, I say the word, use it in a sentence and then say the word, again. I also give enough pause time for the students to write.
I am excited to be a part of your learning environment and look forward to hearing from you, with any questions you may have and to schedule lessons. :)
