ESL teacher for ES/MS students

My name is Catherine. I taught English in Japan for four years to students from Kindergarten to Middle school. My time in Japan allowed me to learn how to teach at a calm pace so that all of my students could fully learn the subject matter each day. I enjoy making my classes active so my students can use what they've learned in real experiences. I'm a big fan of hands on learning. With my students, I utilize reading, writing, listening, and speaking to really cultivate their language skills. They also watch video clips, draw, and write diaries with me to expand their view of English.

My goal as a teacher is to make sure my students leave the lesson having had fun and wanting to learn more. Nothing is more important to me than my student's emotional needs and support to let them know I'm here to help them learn every step of the way.

I taught ESL in Japan for four years to Kindergarten students through Middle school students. I coached my middle school students for three years for their English speaking conversation competitions each year. I held English speaking clubs at school and helped students with their reading, writing, listening, and speaking ability, as well as their elocution and diction.

My concentration in College was fine arts and Japanese. After teaching at school in Japan I would frequently work on illustration commissions. I understand shape, hue, shade, texture, and balance in illustrations. If a student wants to practice more with art, I am happy to help.

Again, my name is Catherine and I am an active ESL teacher happy to teach one-on-one with students and help them with any problems they may have with the English language. I'm eager to hear from you to help you with your ESL needs.
