I have over 7 year’s of paid tutoring experience working with K-12 students in English and Spanish. I worked with Professional Tutors of America in California, working to help inner city students improve their reading and math skills. Some of my former students graduated from the University of California Davis, California State Northridge and California State Chico.
Now, as mother of a special needs child, I practice neurodiversity affirming strategies to ensure success in a main stream classroom. My other child , who is in kindergarten, is reading and practicing math skills at a third grade level.
My approach is from a strengths-based perspective. I notice my student’s special interest and welcome an environment that is accepting and meets the learning style of each student. I also work closely with their parents to provide information on their child’s learning style to foster a a positive learning experience. My experience and knowledge psychology provide greater insight to the learning experience and how the family as a unit can support their learner. Together, we create goals that are measurable, attainable, positive and specific to their child.
